Art Museum of Missoula

An Argument for Drawing, an exhibition on the current state of the all-but-forgotten art of drawing, ranging from the traditional to the conceptual. Includes the work of regional artists like Kristi Hagar, Catherine Courtneye and Sandra Del Pogetto, and an interactive drawing station that lets you try your own hand at the craft. Art Fusion

Hockaday Museum of Art

Images of an Idyllic Past, photographs of North American Indian life by Edward S. Curtis. Also, Rhythms with Nature, an exhibition of landscape paintings by Barbara Candelaria, the Hockaday’s latest Flathead Valley Featured Artist. Both shows run through Feb. 12. MCAT Studios

For First Night, MCAT studios will host Bridges and Ladders, a room-scale mixed-media installation by Missoula high school students combining sculpture, painting, drawing, bookmaking, video and more. At 500 N. Higgins. Call 542-MCAT.

Missoula Children’s Theatre

For First Night, local designer Anna Herman hosts the Anna Herman Fashion Show, featuring some of her latest original designs. In the MCT Lobby, from 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and from 9:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. At 200 Adams. Call 728-7529.

Monte Dolack Gallery

Mountain West Bank

For First Night, Mountain West Bank hosts Living Dolls, an all-ages group show of sculptures, featuring dolls of all shapes and sizes. On display from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Also, artist Renee Taaffe will be on hand to encourage visitors to create their own votive candle lanterns to be displayed as part of the First Light for First Night exhibition. Create lanterns at Mountain West Bank from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lanterns displayed at Adams Center Lobby, 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Mountain West is located at 301 E. Broadway. Call 549-6333.

On First Night, visit artists Clare Ann Harff and Amie Thurber, who are coordinating a community tile mosaic to be installed in Missoula this spring, and decorate a tile of your own.
