Re: “The door knockers

Once you become a Jehovah's Witness - You Can Never Leave. Now let me explain what that means in detail. Once you have been baptized and if you decide to leave and no longer be a member, for what ever reason, you are disfellowshipped. "To be Disfellowshipped" is their terminology for removing someone as a member of their organization. The reasons can be -- if you question what their beliefs are, brake their rules or sin, turn in a Jehovah's Witness who is accused of molesting a child to the police. Those are pretty common reasons for them taking action against their members. Oh and you should know most make this decision to be baptized before the legal age of 18 to enter into this binding contract. That is a decision that will effect them the rest of their life.
I have no problem not being a Jehovah's Witness any more, I do not believe what they teach. It is that simple. I am not bitter because I am no longer be a member. What this article left out is a major thing that goes with being disfellowshipped and that is shunning by your family. Mothers and fathers can no longer talk or see their disfellowshipped children, siblings can no longer talk or see their disfellowshipped siblings. Adult children can no longer talk or see their disfellowshipped parents, sometimes if a Jehovah's Witness parent has custody of underage children, these children will be pressured not talk to their father or mother who is disfellowshipped. I have even heard of the "elders" recommending a Jehovah's Witness divorcing their disfellowshipped spouse.
The Real Truth is Jehovah's Witnesses Break Up Families. They manipulate people to miss their families so much they are willing to give up their free will. Let me state that another way -- They are held hostage in a religion they chose to leave if they want to have contact with their Jehovah's Witness family. That I find sad and unhealthy demands that are put on people who decide to leave, to say the least. Check out and look at the B.I.T.E. Model You will see this is a tool used to control and manipulate.
