Re: “The Lifer

Boy did this bring back some memories and names I had long forgotten!! I don't get around as much as the old day to see who's playing, I got here a little latter than Louie, 78 to be exact, and the Cabin and the Park were my favorite places along with the Top hat and Luke's for open mike nights haahha. Yes things went down hill after the gambling machines etc. replaced the house bands, the Barn on the strip, and another more rock bar down the road from the Barn (can't remember the name). Yes there is tons of talent here, several folks went to Nashville, tough place to worm into coming from MT. The Cabin fire was tough but everything was turning upside down at the time. Sure glad the Top Hat is still going strong, maybe things will change, would love to go back to the 70's and 80's especially since I have a much better guitar hahahah thanks for a great article, good luck Louie!

Re: “War on wolves

Defenders of wildlife is another name for let's go backwards on the North American Wildlife Plan to suit our own agenda. This article is a lie from the get go, making it sound as if the wolves are easily hunted by hi tech Government hunters and will soon be gone from the landscape. No offense but as a hunter and trapper, self made naturalist I and a lot more folks wont let that ever happen period. Wolves are too important along with several other top predators, to be exterminated, besides, the only way they did that years ago was with poison, which happens to be outlawed for years now. Thanks to Friends of bambie groups, court systems that lock the hands of biologists, the wolves got simple out of control everywhere, so sit back, tell the truth, let all of us enjoy them in the population dynamics that make good sense for ALL wildlife, us hunters have flipped that bill for years to have a group of bald faced liars take away the balances for their anti hunting agenda's

Re: “Strength in numbers

I believe in standing up for what you believe in, only trouble I have seen with this latest cause is the facts they are putting out about gun locks etc are untruths, gun locks come with every gun bought for several years now. People make up their mind with emotions and not fact based. We don't have the same mental problems etc. other countries have, we threw these folks out on the streets and stopped the flow of money in the 60's and 70's, out great elected officials did that one. No gun control works with out enforcement and there are tons of laws in all the states that are never enforced and that is a fact. As far as the NRA, they are now the scapegoat which is pretty sad day indeed, I know several folks who do not belong to the NRA even though they have always owned all types of guns so if this young lady thinks that she is in a battle with just the NRA she evidently didn't do her home work, counted all out proud VETS, gun clubs, etc. there are millions out there to take up the fight for unconstitutional types of gun control. She is a brave young lady although miss guided in my book

Re: “Trapping not a “sport”

Never read quite so many distorted lies in one place in my life. It is almost laughable like a brick layer talking atom splitting these folks are so far out in left field no one in their right mind could believe any of this B.S.. Same type of folks that complained about the girl scouts in AK learning how to trap beaver!! The change folks are even funnier than footloose, they sure have copied how to blow out statistics haha 5 mill animals and birds....mice, rats , introduced birds, because of rats on some islands in AK the sea bird population crashed so guess what they did..they wiped out the foreign rats and now they are looking for a new name other than Rat island, starlings are constantly wiped out at airports all over the US of A...I wonder why dahhhhh

Re: “In defense of trapping

Thanks Paul for a well written letter. At first I thought the anti trapping letters were pretty funny since I too have trapped off and on since the late 50's and never heard of all the terms used except a wring off. I made all my hunting money off furs as a kid plus it taught me lessons everyday a fatherless kid would not of learned otherwise. I was hired once to rid an area of foxes and I did get a few skunks over the years I wasn't targeting. I had one wring off on a muskrat set which taught me how not to make that set again and never had another one since with any kind of fur bearer. I go after coyotes now as they are destroying the deer population on the lower Blackfoot and they are a challenge like no other. Trapping brings kids into the out doors which they sadly need these days, teaches ethics, is hard work, and a lot of fun, keeps old guys like me in shape.
Thanks again for setting the record straight

Re: “Not crying wolf

so far , as both a Montanan and Alaskan , I haven't seen one drop of science, wildlife biology, or any other truth stated by your organization, so let's cut the crap, wolves are the most highly evolved predator on the planet and without striving for the 100-150 # (about a third of the total in science bases circles, aka 3 times will roam) we will wipe out all the progress that has been made since the commercial hunting days, have nothing to photograph, never even come close to seeing a moose in the wilds again , let alone much anything else. Why don't you quit the stories and go after something real like introducing the Buffalo in the Bob and the CMR, and all the places that are big enough for them to roam. All the millions wasted on wolves who were already here prior to 1995, such idiots you and your organization are, we will see a total rewrite of the ESA and about everything else all of us hunters have fought for for years , thanks alot, go back East where you belong, leave the west to the folks who know, live with, and protect this land and it's critters, not your sterile place you created and call home
