After being raised west of Kalispell, I quickly realized my appreciation for the Flathead Valley and the recreational opportunities it presents. This appreciation has led me into the Bob Marshall Wilderness complex, where I work for the Forest Service clearing trails out of the remote backcountry of Big Prairie. During the winter months, I retreat to Essex; nestled between Glacier National Park and the Great Bear WIlderness. In Essex, I work at the Izaak Walton Inn and also trap the wilderness for valuable fur bearers. This is where my love of backcountry skiing comes in handy. I set traps where I ski, checking them while I skin up, and then get to descend some of the areas spectacular mountains. After trapping season, skiing becomes the main priority. Usually armed with a few cameras, we try and capture our experiences on film. As an amateur photographer I am always learning with every shot, angle, video, etc. I am excited for next winter already!
