Re: “City Council considers a zoning change for the University District

The university district is a beautiful area of Missoula with an architectural history spanning over 100 years. The homes represent the tastes of architects throughout the last century and include everything from Queen Anne, Craftsman, and Revival styles of architecture to today's more modern style. This is what gives the charm of the university. To continue to single out a specific home that meets all current zoning requirements and would meet the proposed zoning requirements, is tiring at best and harassment at worst. This home is handsome and aesthetically pleasing in its surroundings and compliments today's style. Many homes in the university are in fact larger than Timblo home but are no longer a style favored when designing and building a home. Homes in the historic district are kept in their respective style even during remodels, but the Timblo home is not in the historic district. We should actually thank the Timblo's for keeping within the diverse characteristic of the University District and for continuing the trend to pioneer architectural styles of today's time.

Re: “Meet Lisa Triepke, the candidate who wants to unseat John Engen

How did Lisa Triepke receive public support while she purchased two homes valued at nearly a half million dollars? A property search will show that she purchased a home in Missoula for more than $300k and a second home in Gulf Breeze Florida for $150k. Normally politicians wait until after they are elected to behave in this manner. This woman should not be allowed to serve as mayor ever.

Re: “Gallatin County judge releases Gianforte mugshot

When will some Montana Indy filmmakers make a short of GG and his most meaningful exploits? They could cast our own hometown, award winning actor JK in the lead role. He'd be perfect, especially drawing from his character in Whiplash.

Re: “BrokeAss Gourmet: Sweet potato corn cakes with aioli

Delicious. Last week was great too. I'm having trouble not just eating the aioli by itself. Thanks for the recipe!

Re: “Gallatin County judge releases Gianforte mugshot

Across the web, the funniest thing about this mugshot is the reaction from those who had hoped to weaponize it.

"This can't be real!"

"We need to find out if the jail made an exception for Gianforte!"

"Rich white guys get different mugshots. What would it look like if he were black?"

"They shouldn't have let him smile!"

etc., etc.

I guess you'll just have to Photoshop something for the campaign ads and social media memes.

Re: “Meet Lisa Triepke, the candidate who wants to unseat John Engen

Slight correction, Ms Triepke was elected to the MCPS Board of Trustees in May, 2015, and served a very short time before resigning in July 201; not a year as stated in the article.

Re: “Tobin Miller Shearer and the other white power

And, yes, he uses his "privilege" to continue the long, continuing, steady decline of a formerly (at least) passable university! Great job, prof! LOL

Re: “Meet Lisa Triepke, the candidate who wants to unseat John Engen

So re-electing someone who has no self control of his personal life and was drunk on the job is a better option?

Re: “The pardon of Joe Arpaio triggers memories of an immigrant

Jeez, what a contemptible framework this story is. The whole argument is, "Look at the poor miserable wretch, and how cruel the evil Americans are!" I've little reason to doubt the stories of foreign barbarism in the world, nor would I blame an individual from trying to illegally enter a country in search of somewhere better. But in the same token my own people are my concern, not strangers. I will not give up my community, my home, my bed to someone just because I might pity their situation. Such reckless generosity is dangerous and unsustainable aside from being the absolute height of foolishness. Call my cruel or harsh, but it is unjust nonetheless to let someone who doesn't belong in this country to stay here illegally and sap resources from my true countrymen. I'd rather be called names than live in a country I no longer recognize surrounded by strangers. I will reserve my compassion and energies towards my own first and foremost, and I would recommend everyone do the same.

Re: “Shooting the moon

If I learned one thing from nearly three years in Missoula, this is one Sadass group of spendaholic libs that LOVES, LOVES to piss away taxpayer dollars! Why not add equipment and a full time police officer to do the background check work? "Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket. And we can raise taxes some more to pay for it!" (LOL) Meanwhile, go over and walk Greenough Park. It's a complete disgrace how it's being maintained. Any city council member taking any interest in something they really should be concerned about? Crickets. (Rant off.)

Re: “Gallatin County judge releases Gianforte mugshot

Too bad the Reporter wasn't arrested and his mugshot put on display. He interrupted a private meeting, had been following Gianforte, and was "in your face rude." The joke is on the reporter as more of us will be voting for Gianforte as he has stood up for the forgotten man & woman. Gianforte.....he's the man! Go, Greg!!

Re: “Meet Lisa Triepke, the candidate who wants to unseat John Engen

"I don't understand your question."
"I don't know. I don't really understand your question."
"I'm still not sure what your question's asking me."
"I'm confused by your line of questioning, is what I'll say."
"So that's why I was confused, because that's kind of two separate issues. So are you asking about public services or homelessness?"

Stupidity or feigned ignorance? Either way, she's not qualified to be mayor.

Re: “Gallatin County judge releases Gianforte mugshot

This doesn't look like a mugshot to me. Where is the scale? Where is the side view? No wonder Gianforte didn't fight release of this photo. Looks like it was taken in the assembly room at a church potluck.

Re: “Meet Lisa Triepke, the candidate who wants to unseat John Engen

Reading this article (mainly her quotes) was painful and exhausting. It was kind of like re-living a Trump debate. Hollow, uninformed, confusing, scattered, full of mistruths, and broad-stroke garbage. I am glad somebody is challenging the Mayor. It is good for Democracy. But she seems wildly unqualified. My advice would be for her to go back to serving wings at Desperado and calling people "fucking liars" in school board meetings.

Re: “With a new pick for president, UM can get back to business

The theory that one must be an academic to lead an academic institution is a false theory. Bodnar was first in his class at one of the USA's more selective leading liberal arts universities, a "seven-percenter," promoted ahead of his peers in the Army, and on the fast-track at GE. I think the Independent's complaint is, "but he does not walk on water."
