Big weekend for Missoula athletes on world stage

Posted By on Mon, Jul 2, 2012 at 10:05 AM

Scoreboard, world.

Missoula represented over the weekend in two different events, on two different continents.

First, Linsey Corbin won the Ironman Austria women’s triathlon Sunday. It was the first time Corbin, who's no stranger to the podium, competed in a European Ironman event. She says she was motivated by the memory of her Grandpa Norm, who was raised in Vienna and died about a year ago.

Fellow Missoulian Sam Schultz celebrated his recent appointment to the U.S. Olympic cycling team with a top-10 finish in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Windham, New York. The finish is Schultz's best yet in the highly competitive international circuit and is a nice prelude to the upcoming Hammer Nutrition Missoula XC at Marshall Mountain. Schultz, by the way, found his race day motivation from Missoula's own Black Coffee Roasters.

Since this is Missoula and we're a small town, Schultz and Corbin shared some dap via Twitter.
