President Obama rejects Keystone XL pipeline project
Citing an unrealistic and artificial deadline imposed by Congress on approval of the Keystone XL pipeline project, which would have carried Alberta crude south to refineries on the United States' Gulf Coast, President Obama announced Wednesday he was rejecting the project.

Canadian prime minister disappointed by Keystone XL decision
President Obama called Prime Minister Stephen Harper to explain his decision to reject TransCanada's application to build the Keystone XL pipeline, and the U.S. president stressed that the company could resubmit its application for the Alberta-Texas pipeline.

Decision on Keystone XL pipeline delights, disappoints Montanans
The Obama administration's decision to delay until at least 2013 a permit for TransCanada to build its proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which would pass through six Montana counties on its path from Alberta to Texas, was met with mixed reactions in the Big Sky State, disappointing all three of the state's federal lawmakers, but landowners in the path of the pipeline and local officials applauded the decision.

Enbridge shrugs off loss of First Nations' support for Alberta-B.C. pipeline
After the Gitxsan First Nation withdrew its support for Enbridge's proposed Northern Gateway pipeline project that would carry Alberta crude to ports on British Columbia's West Coast, the energy company's officials expressed confidence in the process to get the pipeline built, and cited the nearly two dozen equity-participation agreements signed by other groups that showed support for the project.

Idaho Supreme Court tosses legislative redistricting plan

Company: Oil well in Colorado county could produce 500 barrels a day
Quicksilver Resources announced this week that a well the company drilled on Wolf Mountain in Colorado's Routt County is capable of producing up to 500 barrels a day, and that the oil produced is sweet crude.
