The Montana Newspaper Association held its annual awards contest last weekend and the Indy managed to sneak its way onto the winners' podium. The Indy competes in the weekly newspaper division.

First place:

Best Business and Economic Issues Reporting: Green Rush, by Matthew Frank
Best Environmental/Natural Resource Issues Reporting: Trout Saviors, by Matthew Frank
Best Health, Fitness, Medicine, Science Issues Reporting: Running on Empty, by Jessica Mayrer
Best Sports Feature: A Call for Help, by Alex Sakariassen
Best Niche Publication: Western Montana Homesteader

Honorable Mention:
Best Business and Economic Issues Reporting: Masters of Invention, by staff
Best Investigative Reporting: How Safe is Your Food?, by Skylar Browning

The Missoulian, meanwhile, won 20 awards in the division for daily newspapers with a circulation over 7,500.
