Tester's forest bill...and communists?

Posted By on Sat, Sep 12, 2009 at 4:55 PM

We thought we'd heard all of the complaints about Sen. Jon Tester's Forest Jobs and Recreation Act, and then we read this.

Rob Chaney's otherwise straightforward account of a meeting held by groups opposed to Tester's bill, ends with this nugget:

Speakers from the audience raised a variety of other concerns, including the idea that communist organizations or the United Nations were mobilizing efforts to turn nearly half the United States into closed wilderness areas.

Wait, what? Come again?

We'd love to hear more if anyone has a clue about what international conspiracies the folks at the meeting were discussing.
