Nearby slash and wildland fires filled the Missoula Valley with smoke on Friday, Nov. 30, darkening skies enough to trigger automated streetlights in Missoula and Bonner to turn on mid-day. Friday was the last day of the permitted burning season, which opens again on March 1.
