The comebacks

Jo Dee vs. Queensrÿche

In the groggy aftermath of the Rolling Stones recent traipse through town, it’s been difficult to muster up much enthusiasm for the next big show. But now comes Queensrÿche. And Jo Dee Messina. And in the same week, no less. And—what? That’s not pushing your ticket-buying button? Skeptics, all of you. Despite their disparate genres—Messina’s chart-topping country-pop; Queensrÿche’s episodic intelli-metal—these two national acts share more in common than just tour buses barreling down Interstate 90. It starts with the art of the comeback—and perhaps ends with a compelling reason to shake you out of your post-Stones slump.
