Put some hair on that Ani DiFrancohead of yours and win a DVD!

“Hi, everybody, I’m Ani DiFranco. [Editor’s note: That’s just our writer talking. He isn’t really Ani DiFranco, but like her, he did play in a band once, and used to have long hair. So if you’re reading this, Ani, call off the hounds.] You may remember me from such bazillion-selling albums as Up Up Up Up Up Up and from such life-affirming, sweaty sold-out estro-fests as last year’s performance at the Adams Center.

Listen, I’ve got this brand-new DVD out called Render, the first-ever feature-length documentary of me in action. A fan’s delight, this little honey has got more than two hours of live footage drawn from as far back as 1997 and lots of real behind-the-scenes poking and prodding around in my life and my music, how new songs take shape and stuff like that. There’s even two brand-new songs and previously-unreleased live versions of many old favorites!

So here’s the thing: The arts and music editor of this paper (who is really a very sensitive guy...and so handsome!) respects my music in principle but would rather chew foil than actually listen to it. So he’s generously offered to give away his promotional copy of Render to one lucky reader with a knack for doing a little artistic rendering of his/her own. Simply draw a classy new “do” (or a sassy li’l “don’t”) on my digitally-embaldened noggin (below) in black pen or marker and return your entry by mail or in person to: Missoula Independent (attn. “Hairstyles”), 115 South 4th Street West, Missoula, MT 59801. All entries must be postmarked by July 10. (Entries not valid from Utah.) The best entry will be published in the following week’s issue, at which time the winner will be free to walk away with the prize. Happy doodling!
