Long a best-kept secret for wilderness lovers, Mill Creek's popularity has exploded recently as rock climbers have migrated from the well-appreciated Blodgett and Kootenai Canyons in search of lonelier routes. They find it here, as the expansive canyon has plenty of rarely-explored corners.

A wilderness trail follows the drainage about 10 miles to the crest of Bitterroot Mountains, where it connects with the Fred Burr trail.
