What’s on display in Missoula and beyond

Hockaday Museum of Art

Opening this week, Images of an Idyllic Past, photographs of North American Indian life by Edward S. Curtis. Also, Rhythms with Nature, an exhibition of landscape paintings by Barbara Candelaria, the Hockaday’s latest Flathead Valley Featured Artist. Both shows open Friday, Nov. 19 with a reception for museum members from 6 to 8 p.m., and run through Feb. 12, 2000. At 302 Second Street in Kalispell. Call 755-5268.

University Center Gallery

A House a Year, an exhibition of ceramic wall hangings by Heath Bultman which explores the relationships between people and their living spaces. Runs through Dec. 10. On the second floor at the University Center. Call 243-4991.

Art Museum of Missoula

Miriam Schapiro: Works on Paper, a Thirty Year Retrospective, an exhibition of work by a pioneer of feminist art. The show is on view in all galleries through Nov. 24. At 335 North Pattee. Call 728-0447.

UM’s Gallery of Visual Arts

Offerings: Objects of Remembrance, group show of oil paintings on paper, focusing on spiritual significance and the transient nature of life. Runs through Nov. 23. At UM’s Social Science Building. Call 243-2813.

UC Conference Rooms

Waterscapes, photography from around the world by Darren D. Guyaz, in rooms 215 and 216. Also, Fresh Works, mixed media pieces by Jayne R. Piazza, in room 207. And Fire Lake Monoprints by Martha Elizabeth, in room 222. All shows on display through Dec. 15. Call 243-4991.
