For many art lovers, the Missoula Art Museum is a required stop on the First Friday circuit. First Fridays at MAM are typically packed affairs, with people crowding in the galleries to hear artist talks about exhibits like Theo Ellsworth’s Thought Clouds
and the Andy Warhol Collection
. Of course, First Friday isn’t where the action stops. MAM is open the rest of the month, too, with art classes, live music, readings, special talks and kids' day camps.
Since 1975, MAM staff have long worked to include an intellectually stimulating mix of contemporary works in beautiful photography, unusual ceramics, large-scale installations and too many other mediums to count. And because of the generosity of its members and the community, MAM doesn’t charge admission. It’s a place that strives to make art the kind of accessible community asset that it deserves to be.
