Despite retiring seven years ago from her gig teaching at Sentinel High School—she taught there for 37 years and the school’s theater carries her name—Margaret Johnson continues to be active on local stages. Last year, the revered thespian appeared as an earnest prosecuting attorney in the Missoula Symphony Orchestra’s family-friendly performance of Peter Versus the Wolf, stuck opposite a stammering judge played by Mayor John Engen. Johnson may not have convinced Engen—he had her silenced after forcing him to pronounce, or at least try to pronounce, the word “metaphorical”—but she convinced voters to giver her a second straight title in this category.
