Children will engage in dancing and learning choreography, singing, playing drums,
and making costumes with recycled materials, culminating in a performance at the
end of the week. During this session, age-appropriate background info about African
music, ethnic groups, musical instruments, types of dances, cultural practices, and the
influence of African culture on other art forms, including popular modern American
dances/music will be presented. This will be a lively and culturally enriching session
with Tarn Ream, who has brought African music and dance presentations and classes to
Montana schools and the community for over 20 years.
