"wanderingthcdt's" anonymous comment aside, I stand by what I said about both about the Moose Project on the Salmon-Chalis National Forest and about some of these "collaborations" in general.

The fact of the matter is that Ms. Knudson tried to talk Alliance for the Wild Rockies out of filing a lawsuit against the Salmon National Forest's Moose Creek timber sale despite a very conservative judge later ruling that the Salmon N.F. was violating the National Forest Management Act by not protecting any of their old growth forests.

Mr. Koehler's representation of the Lemhi County Forest Restoration Group's involvement in the Salmon-Moose sale is off-base. The collaborative had absolutely nothing to do with the design of that project (it was proposed before our group organized), but when it went to court, we did advocate that some of the less controversial lodgepole units be released from the injunction so our last remaining post and pole operator could stay in business.

I think Knudsen's comment proves that property rights advocates' fears are well-founded :
For whatever it's worth, Gina Knudson fails to mention that she was part of a collaboration that supported a timber sale on the Salmon-Chalis National Forest in Idaho, which one of the most conservative federal judges in the entire country found was illegal because the Forest Service was not ensuring the viability of old growth dependent species on the Salmon National Forest. The judge noted that the Salmon-Chalis National Forest's old growth standard appears to be invalid, and even if it is valid, the Forest Service failed to comply with it.
