P.S. Starting Monday, June 18th people can start reading Ochenski’s columns again, on the opinion pages of the Missoulian. That’s right, as of today, George Ochenski is the new, weekly Monday opinion columnist for the Missoulian.

      Hello Paul VanDevelder:

I think what is happening here is just a simple case of you and your column being caught up in the reality that the Missoula Independent's editor (Robert Meyerowitz) and President last week fired George Ochenski, the paper's award-winning, legendary political and opinion columnist for the past 12 years.

The following links should provide some background....as well as some indication of just how Missoula and Montana's progressive community feels about the Indy's decision.

There appears to be a widespread misunderstanding of the process that lands a piece like this one (which happens to be written by me) in this newspapers. This 'hack' and 'incompetent writer' writes columns on law and natural resources issues for a variety of publications, including the Los Angeles Times, the Oregonian, Audubon Magazine, et.al., and, on occasion, for High Country News.
However, the Native claim to the Black is a very worthy issue that remains alive and viable.
