      <![CDATA[$10,000 is just the point when the relationship between having more and living better stops being one you can depend on, when factors other than sheer want--like a person's connection to his neighbors and sense of belonging, or personal satisfaction with the projects of daily life--begin to confound the analysis. Certainly, if a person wasn't worried about becoming destitute because of a bad month, $10,000 is a fair though not great sum to live on in Missoula.
