The author of this article seems
To go to great lengths to sensationalize some points in this article. He keeps making a point that they live "off the grid" as though that is unusual. No doubt most guys of Mr. Payne's beliefs prefer to live off the grid; however, there are a fair amount of people in the Aspen Hills Subdivision/Clear Creek sub-division and all of them live off-the-grid and I feel relatively safe in assuming that most of them aren't militia types.
This article is fairly sensationalized and sensationalizing things can contribute to escalating a feeling of distrust and fear in a community. Consequently, sensationalizing this is pretty damned irresponsible in and of itself. I don't care for the fear-mongering that accompanies much of the far right. But I also think that a lot of the left does the same in the name of "information". But really it's fear-mongering, too, only instead of masquerading as militia it masquerades as "journalism". Thank you Independent for your left wing contribution to the climate of fear that is our modern day United States.
