Re: “Rainbow Gathering allegedly leaves more than a dozen dogs behind

In the end, it really doesn't matter what the statistics are for abandoned animals in Beaverhead Co. We should try to do better. Perhaps we Rainbows need to open up discussions amongst ourselves about how to better educate each other about care of our buddies at a Gathering.

Re: “Rainbow Gathering allegedly leaves more than a dozen dogs behind

i personally want to say how badly i feel for the dogs that were abandoned and to apologize for any undue burdens that this has put upon the fine people of your community. the rainbow gathering is a totally free event which is open to all and there fore can potentially bring an element that those who responsibly try to keep this event safe, struggle with as well. let me assure you the not everyone who goes does so "just to get high" most of us are responsible community members who have jobs, raise children and pay mortgages. personally, i work with the medical unit and we often treat the pets of the people who come. this year we even treated a hairless rat who had bronchitis. although some cruel people abandon their dogs, i think that some of them are just plan lost. i can not tell you how many upset folks i have dealt with who just want to find their missing buddy. again, i would like to thank you all for your kind hospitality over the last month.
