"if wolf supporters want to do right....they need to do so at the species level, eschewing the urge to portray wolves as incarnates of human goodwill.". I feel I detect a leaning toward the idea that wolf "goodwishers" are under pressure to desist from anthropromorphising in order to escape the dreaded "inappropriate" label. However, your editorial seems to suggest that it is perfectly OK for Non-supporters to denigrate the wolf on the sentimental grounds that their way of life includes such horrible cultural examples of viscious cruelty that the wolf must be considered amoral. Assigning the characteristic of cruelty and judging their actions as immoral is anthropomorphising Mr. Dax. If it was not your purpose to "lean" OK , but my read felt a lean.
Personal or private the pictures show a lack of any fair chase/take ethics. Wy. Wildlife Services should fire him immediately. As a Wyoming resident I certainly do not want him working for me. I do own stock and have had to defend them from predation but I always hoped for a clean kill when I had to. Torture is torture no matter the rational.
