You know, I can't help but think of how amazing and impactful it would be if MRA did a call to local business and nonprofits and spoke about their vision for this area and made it known that there was money to be invested there. I am sure they would get a huge response of worthy contestants who would also create jobs and improve the area. I really hate this idea that corporate entities somehow add more value and some idea of progress to a community than local nonprofits and businesses do. It is frustrating for many of us who have investigated opportunities for this type of financing for our own local projects, businesses, nonprofits and have been told there are no funds available. MRA is made up of a board whom I am certain wants to do the best for Missoula, so I wonder where is the disconnect? What on earth leads to these decisions?
