@two arrows: I can assure you that both American crows (Corvus brachyrhynchos) and common ravens (Corvus corax) live in Montana, and in Missoula specifically. They are easy to confuse, but can be differentiated by size, profile, and voice.
When I was back in New York our next-door neighbor tried to raise a crow, but he didn't know how to teach it to stay away from cars and it got nailed.
Also, the wild crows hated it and would harass it.
