My name is Jay Mallonee and I am the wolf biologist referred to in Christina's article. The article states that I am a wolf researcher and scientist for Friends of Animals. This is not true. I am an independent wolf biologist and conduct research though my own business of Wolf and Wildlife Studies. I have studied wolves in Montana and other states for the past 20 years, including a ten-year study of the Fishtrap pack in NW Montana. I recently reviewed the data on wolf population numbers provided in the annual reports by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP). I found their data to be wrong and filled with fabricated numbers. My review was published in a peer reviewed scientific journal. To read or download a copy of this paper please go to my web site at www.wolfandwildlifestudies.com. Most of the numbers cited by Christina in her article were taken from this published paper. I also reviewed the numbers for 2011, in which FWP has claimed a 15% increase in the wolf population since 2010. This issue was also in Christina's article. FWP's claim is based on fabricated numbers as shown in my review. A copy can be obtained on my web site where additional and accurate information about wolves can be found.
