Another controversial piece from the gifted Ms. Laich! You bring a first-person reality, honesty, and a willingness to bare yourself, warts and all, to your readers, some of whom obviously disapprove of your choices, lifestyle, etc. As a parent, I do wish you would lighten up on your mom. Many of us drag ourselves off to work every day to support our kids and don't have the opportunities to float the river or ride our bikes that you describe. Independent, would you hurry up and give this young woman a full-time position so she can get her life on track?
Ahhhh, the joys of a summer version of Cold Smoke. Only problem is you can't buy one of these at the Big Sky Brewery's Summer Concert Series!
Frankly, I was surprised to find this piece in the Independent, who never flinch from taking the ad dollars of the local medical marijuana industry. Why is it that this woman's experience and attribution of lack of motivation to pot smoking being excoriated in these comments? Marijuana is a mind altering substance. Perhaps we should ask ourselves whether we would want surgeons, airline pilots, long haul truckers and the like using daily? Like it or not, it is also habit-forming and difficult to stop. I have known people who couldn't quit even when their livlihoods depended on it, i.e urine testing on the job. Perhaps some of you feel insulted by this article and the author. Why? It's a first person narrative of the struggles with marijuana dependence as opposed to someone simply blaming their problems on pot. This girl could have been me. I can thank my stars my life didn't go down her path.
