I love that someone would try to frame this as a "free-speech" issue. It's merely free enterprise at its best. Just as customers wouldn't return to a restaurant that serves sour milk or rancid chicken, consumers can peacefully and constitutionally express their disgust with sponsors of the toxicity that Limbaugh that peddles. I'm in the demographics that advertisers on radio stations like KGVO want to woo. I'm happy to patronize the businesses that reject obnoxious content.
For the record, it cuts both ways. If someone listed local sponsors of the liberal and objectionable Ed Schulz show on TV, I'd be sure to avoid them as well.
Good news. Some time ago, I contacted two national advertisers from whom I had sometimes placed orders. I heard their ads on the hateful Michael Savage program, also aired on KGVO. I wanted to be removed from their mailing lists and told them I would never support businesses that sponsor such nonsense.
I do not, will not listen to Rush Limbaugh. The petition web site names seven local businesses that pulled their ads from KGVO. I wrote them down and you can be sure I will go out of my way to patronize them in the future.
Ben Long used to say he was from Idaho. Did he go to court to have his home state legally changed? That seems extreme, although people do stretch the truth about how long they have lived here. The common meaning of home state is where one was born or grew up. I guess we will need a birth certificate (any length form) to confirm.
