I think the term "allegedly" is key here. Had Mr. Cooney not purchased the houses he did in Bonner and went to great expense to fix them up they would most likely look just like the houses Stimson still owns on the other side of the street. All boarded up and falling into disrepair. Is fixing them up and making them liveable to moderate income families bad community Stewardship? Is buying all the houses Christmas decorations and installing them bad stewardship? Is getting Bonner declared an Historical Site bad stewardship? Is donating half the Post Office building for a Community Historical Center bad stewardship? Is holding public meetings and asking the community surrounding his property in the West Log Yard what they would like to see and have on that property bad stewardship? Is trying to get a Community Medical Center built there bad Stewardship? I fail to see where he has harmed our community. Until he is convicted of a crime against our community or has done harm to our community I have to agree with Mr. Matson that we are a community in transition and that Mr. Cooney is a vital link for future development here.
