I used to live there as well, but my houseparents were great. They didn't like what was happening to the ranch and didn't want to be apart of it anymore. I actually was in the same house with miss melanie jean above, and we both witnessed some horrible things, especially when we would go to other houses for a couple of days. The punishments are not only harsh, but sometimes I had a feeling they were doing it because they could, not because it would help us. I am raising a daughter right now, and i can tell you for sure that i would NEVER treat my children the same way that they treated us. NOt our houseparents, let me add that in again but specifically ned and maxine kent. We were not treated as there children were. if you follow the abuse, it would probably center around the kents. they are violent and given to severe mood swings. I would love to help in anyway i can. I have people there as residents that i still care about, but fear for them. Pinehaven doesnt give you life skills, it teaches you how to conform or else. Luckily after my houseparents left, they talked to my mom, and she took me out. Pinehaven had lied to my mom about certain things and i wasnt allowed to talk about them. She was in the dark about alot of things going on there. One of the biggest churches in the country has actually stopped supporting pinehaven and sending work groupd because of all of the truth about pinehaven coming out finally. The children arent lying, i was there for the abuse, experienced it...why would someone on the outside now want to shut it down unless what they were saying is true? Please help the kids there, how they are going about "helping " the kids is completely skewed! The kids can't defend themselves so we need to!
