Republicans won big because huge out-of-state corporations funneled millions of dollars into Republican campaigns throughout the state through radical shadow political organizations like Jon Sinrud's "Western Traditions Partnership." How many of those mailers that showed up in the Bitterroot were paid for by WTP? How many of those mailers didn't bother to say who paid for them? How many radio and TV ads were paid for by mining companies, timber companies, oil and gas companies, without any accountability whatsoever?
With the Commissioner of Political Practices completely overwhelmed and underfunded, it's pretty easy for out-of-state corporations to buy elections and exploit our state. Now that they've got their teabaggers in office they can't wait to start drilling and mining our fossil fuels, slashing our forests, stripping our minerals and leaving Montana taxpayers holding the bag indefinitely to clean up their messes. Oh, but wait! They'll make sure our laws don't require them to clean up their messes at all. Welcome back to the grand old days of the Anaconda Copper Co. folks. The past is the future...
Montanans didn't reject Democrats because of guys like Brandborg. The votes were bought and paid for by out of staters....like Williams.
Thanks, Brandy, for everything you have done and continue to do to fight for future generations of this state. Same goes for Koehler and Ochenski.
