Re: “Big on Bennett

I am an Independent by nature and vote for individuals not political parties. I knew and worked with Don Harbaugh when he was Principal at Hellgate High School. Don was a very reasonable person, always willing to hear you out, get all the facts and make a well considered decision. He fought hard for the needs of the school district, the teachers and students.

My conversations with Don more recently at neighborhood events show he is the same humble, considerate and moderate person willing to listen and work with legislators in both parties for a common good.

I met Bryce Bennett two times when he was walking the neighborhoods. While a nice very young fellow, it is obvious that Bennett lacks a lot of knowledge and real world experience. He was quick to tell me what he thought I wanted to hear, even when it contradicted statements on his web site or his own political flyer he handed me. He talked more about himself and his political agenda than about what I thought was important. While very polite, he thought he knew all the answers and didn’t take suggestions well. While talking to him, I remembered an old saying about being cautious of someone “who doesn’t know what he doesn’t know”.

Don Harbaugh has my vote this fall. Don is prepared to be an excellent legislator who will reach across party lines and listen to all voters regardless of their party affiliations. Bryce Bennett will have to wait until he gains more knowledge and wisdom to earn the privilege of being a legislator.
