I laugh at what they try to call affordable housing in Missoula...I bought a home in 1989 for 64,000 and the same home would sell for $300,000+ now, why? You could rent places for a fair price before they lifted the family definition ordinance. What was projected to assist renters has made our rent prices here a cash cow for landlords and unaffordable for most. If the landlord next door can get five students in a place, each paying $250.00 a month, the the neighbor would raise his rents to cash in too, it has never stopped...pure greed nothing more. The greed of the landlord, homeowners and realtors is the real problem in this town. (the more a realtor can sell the place for the bigger return he gets) You can rent places in major western cities cheaper than here. Crunching more homes in tiny spaces won't solve the problem we have with greed, I said it when I was on the "affordable housing committee" many years ago..There is no affordable housing if you base it on our average income here.
Enough of the second Amendment baloney, no one is taking away your toys..I grew up with guns in everyones homes, but don't remember people carrying them to open meetings or walking around downtown with them trying to make a statement!! Last I remember, people who had guns used them to hunt only...That was when people killed a deer for the winter meat not the trophy.
As for ultra liberals and Christian conservatives, I think your both way off base..nothing gets done as long as no one is a good neighbor..a good neighbor respect and honors others as equals. This country is not just Christian rights nor is it liberal non-believers..last I heard religion was not the basis of our government..but I guess that was before Bush decided he would make new rules. Seems things have gone way out of control. If we as a people don't put a stop to all the hysteria this country will be as vulnerable as all the countries we are currently fighting for (by the way when your in another country fighting for their freedoms, you are not fighting for your country..great PI campaign from Washington but it doesn't make sense)
I think Teen Challenge is a wonderful program, it has helped thousands in a very positive way... but Sarah Palin is not what I consider a great roll model. A very self serving, attention seeking and money hungry individual who could do more right now by stabilizing her own life with her families needs.
Goes to show how much a "mob" can do to control what we hear and do in our everyday lives. How can a media source give balanced, well informed accounts when the "mob" wants everything now without any indepth research other than the outrage of the event. How many times in the history of man has the "mob" mentality wrongly dictated the outcome of how things are protrayed or acted out. What I find interesting is the "mob" is initially a smaller group with a single agenda that has the ability to cause hysteria in others. Every part of that story is a sad reminder of how many are permanently and tragically affected by the "mob" hysteria of a minority. Clearly no winners there...
