Well, this has gone national. Here's a great comment I pulled by Duck Stab at TPM:
I just keep laughing at the unfounded paranoia exhibited by 'real Americans'. This is what happens when you listen to talk radio show hosts and believe what they say; you come across as frothing morons, too stupid for debate.
Let's have some fun with their little manifesto:
"To form and command a county militia of all citizens 18 or older. However, it adds: "Note: Women must serve, but not in a combat capacity unless the men are in danger of being overrun."
No womenfolk, unless us men are too weak and soft to handle the invading Muslim hordes! Then we will scream like girls for the girls to help us. Got it.
"To absolutely prohibit all efforts, Federal, State or city, that infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms including the requirement to have a permit to carry a concealed weapon and restrictions on the kinds of weapons one may possess and carry, eg., fully automatic, silenced, length of barrel, length of blade, opening mechanism of a knife, etc."
Good lord. What in the hell is their problem? No one is coming for your toys, children. No one. You are free to carry around your phallic replacements to your little hearts desire if you think you are more of a man for doing so. I bet they send out Xmas cards with their families holding their guns.
"To require federal employees to obtain written permission from the sheriff before approaching local citizens."
What the hell makes these rednecks think they are so special that they deserve such treatment? How will they know who is and who isn't a federal employee? I guess they really hate the mailman in that town since they are federal employees too.
"To prohibit mandatory vaccinations."
Fine, you want your children to die at the age of 7 because they didn't get vaccinated, go right ahead. If they live, too bad they'll never be able to get into a public school or college because you people are too stupid to understand basic science.
"To prohibit federal employees from collecting census information beyond the number of adults in each home."
Stuck on stupid, again.
"To block all Environmental Protection Agency employees from entering the country. (We should note here that the editor of the Republic tells us he knows of no EPA activity in the county.)"
Huh? I guess rural white trash doesn't mind their land being poisoned by developers.
"To use the term 'peace officer' in lieu of the current law enforcement officer.'"
I give up. These people just make me laugh time and time again.
