Re: “Pulling Pork

It's virtually impossible to find anyone these days who has any actual convictions or principles that they stand on. Everyone "flip flops" as the direction of the wind changes. Legislators, the masses, and the media. Back when Tester was running against Burns, Tester railed continuously about Burns and pork, Burns and earmarks. Evil, evil, Burns. And the Missoula Indpendent carried that same water. Go back and read Indyand Missoulian coverage back then. It was a constant and continuous theme in the media and in the Tester campaign rhetoric. Tester was going to get rid of the evil empire that was so involved in wasting taxpayer money on evil pork, evil special projects, and special interest earmarks. Remember?

Now Tester and the Independent have done a complete 180 and earmarks and pork are a good thing, Tester and Baucus are leaders in pork projects, and Reberg is evil for suggesting it should probably be reigned in. Of course now most of that pork is going to projects that Tester, Baucus, the Indy, and their followers all think are great. "I'm against it until I'm for it". yawn.... Does make for entertainment tho. Have to give ya that!

Re: “Targeting gun violence

Well written article. I especially like how it is filled up with facts and data like, all the gunshot deaths in Montana each year from these concealed or open carry crazies. And all those shocking statistics on the "..illegal sales and trafficking of firearms in the state." Wow. Something really needs to be done about that!

It's those facts that really separate articles like this from some of the goofy, amateurish, ramblings you read in other publications.
