You say that owning firearms is a right, and you are half correct. You forget that "bearing" or carrying is the other half of that right. Since most places UnConstitutionally demand a fee and a permit to carry concealed (thus reducing a Right to a priviledge), open carry is both legal, polite and a statement that one will not bow to government usurption of Rights, or P.C. foolishness. My pistol is no good for self-defense if it is at home while I do business in town. And it is much more comfortable for the bearer to carry outside the pants on the belt, than concealed. Your erroneous definition of "rude" does not trump my Civil Rights or my ability to protect myself. Good day to you.
