We as a society should be ashamed of ourselves for selling a low income person's home out from under them. I hope that every one of those 30 people who cannot pay at the most a $400 tax bill finds someone to help them. Do the math -- is that really going to make or break the county?
I'm so glad you did this piece. I took in a 20 year old this past summer who had a similar story. He aged out of the foster care system at 18, he had been homeless, and I was trying to offer him a hand up, but it didn't work out. He wasn't used to family life. It is just so sad to know young adults are invisible and lacking even minor relationship skills needed to get by.
