Sounds like 1.33 million dollars could sure be spent better elsewhere. Does anyone remember art classes? Elementary students in Missoula get one art class every 5 weeks. Or teacher student ratios? Does 28 to 1 even sound reasonable? But 1.33 million for testing contracts. For an educational program, there's a lot of ignorant decisions being made.
If he understands the devotion horses attract, but still claims recycling them is the solution, then he does NOT, in fact, understand. A poorly-conceived, pointless, and unconscionable solution is not a solution.
NO administrators are taking a cut that I have heard of. And there sure aren't enough taking a cut to save all those that they are eliminating. BS. It's supposed to be an educational institution, and the first thing cut is instruction. Of COURSE it's the biggest piece of the pie, it's a UNIVERSITY, people!
I think it's not quite the truth to say "nobody's being told they're not going to be hired for next year". At all.
And while Perry Brown's spin hints that the classes simply aren't needed, so therefore not a big deal if some are cut, it makes sense that enrollment numbers aren't going to increase if students aren't willing to come here because there are less classes offered.
Maybe some administration (perhaps those responsible for this fiasco?) could take a few pay cuts, save a few adjuncts positions, save some classes, make it more appealing for students to come to UM.
seriously? adding open space, while destroying the existing open space that everyone wants to keep (thanks UM!). yeah, let's congratulate ourselves on THIS efficient plan...
