The Green Investment Group bought the former Smurfit-Stone mill site in Frenchtown last year, promising to redevelop it and create jobs. But an examination of the company’s other projects around the U.S. and Canada suggests that that’s not going to happen. A Washington company that sued GIGI last year pulled its case because it believes GIGI is on the brink of insolvency. And it’s not clear if or how the Frenchtown mill, a potential Superfund site, will ever get cleaned up.
