Re: “Revealing ride

The naked human form is often beautiful and often unappealing at the same time. Spend a few evenings practicing your life drawing skills at the MAM and you'll quickly come to the same realization. Ultimately who cares what somebody looks like. If you can't see beyond exterior forms you need more than a bike ride.

People cannot be forced to change or grow. Buddhists know that. Compassion dictate their actions to allow others to come to their own conclusions in their own time and at their own pace. Whether it be war or law or a well meaning deed that cannot be refused, forcible actions are an affront and speak to an unexamined inner fear that demands one of these forms of violence as a supposed solution.

No doubt this issue will keep circulating in the staid minds of both sides for a good time yet. People get so attached to their conceptual realities that they can't see beyond their nose. Tiresome.

It's very unfortunate that these people submitted false personal injury claims when there are people out there who have truly been wronged.

Good job guys, you've done a lot to get young people interested in politics. We know this scares Republicans, so don't listen to any of these silly catcalls.

Liberals never tell the truth about what they are really doing. Move on Forward Montana is really selling Marxist / Progressivism. ALEX SAKARIASSEN is a full blown Progressive. Anti-Coal global warming believer. He has the group think down pat. At least he is a good sportsman.

Re: “Revealing ride

Both sides are wrong about the same thing: it's not "outsiders" that are providing opposition to their cause. Missoula isn't entirely composed of Nita Maddux's social circle, nor John McFarland's -- and to play the "we're the true locals" card is unproductive all around.

However, it sounds like Maddux went around planning this in a thoughtful way, so in the end I'm more sympathetic to her. There are certainly public events in Missoula that I would not care to attend, and that even go against my values. I give them a wide berth, and suggest that those opposed to the bike ride do the same. And while I'm not opposed to the bike ride in theory, in practice I will be elsewhere - very elsewhere.

Re: “Revealing ride

I know this is a radical thought . . . but Monday, August 18, will descend upon us.

Re: “Revealing ride

To all of you in opposition to this event, I say retreat to your house, pull the blinds, clutch your bible to your chest and pray that Jesus never again lets you be naked under your clothes....

Nudity is a big deal if you make it a big deal. Children teach us that every day as they learn to be ashamed.

Re: “Revealing ride

Numerous graphic death threats'??! Over a BIKE RIDE??? If it 'Opens the door to sex crimes'- what is THAT saying about YOUR NEIGHBOURS?? The loud, noisy and belligerent minority on this issue ought to be ashamed of itself. (And clearly is, given their opposition- notice how self loathing so often manifests as just plain loathing?). I was BORN AND RAISED in Missoula MT.

Re: “Revealing ride

This is that exact event I would expect in Missoula. For the 3 years I was in Missoula I attended undie runs, clothing swaps(with nudity), nyotaimori sushi nights, undie dance parties, drag shows, slut walks, nude art shows, sex workshops and play parties. And that is what I attended there is also testie fest, hemp fest, brew fest and maggot fest. To say this is not in line with Missoula culture or morals is not only ignorant but a blatant lie.

Re: “Revealing ride

Those that are saying that it "infringes on their rights to be downtown during that time" - and are using that argument. What if you are in recovery and there is a brew fest? That would be infringing my right to be downtown. Or in a religion that doesn't drink. I happen to note that you're having one on Sept 5th.

This particular event will literally be an inconvenience for literally 4 hours. Even the Portland WNBR which is the largest in the world, this year boasting over 9k participants - the ride itself began and ended in under 2 hours. The people milled around for quite a bit before and then we host an after-party. That's our schtick. How do I know? I have been one of the organizers since 2009.

It is literally 1 afternoon for you Missoula. (One night in Portland.) The organizers try to do their best to advertise well not to bring in participants, but to let those that want to avoid it give them the opportunity to do so. The Portland Police's suggestions were to avoid the area of town, close your blinds, go to the movies etc.

Seriously, if you go to lunch and a matinee the ride will be over and done with by the time you're done. It will be like it never happened.

Stop making such a big deal about it. The Giver is coming out on the 15th. I'm super stoked about it. One of my fav books as a kid. Sounds like a good day to hit it up.

Re: “Revealing ride

These culture clashes can be so amusing: people who want to limit free expression, but they are SO OPPRESSED if they by chance see a naked body; the McFarland guy who said "...I have a hard time with people coming from Portland trying to get what’s acceptable in Portland..." when the organizer is a native of Whitefish, who lived in Missoula before she moved away to Maui and Asia then returned to Missoula. I think that the people who vocally oppose fun naked events are those who are too ignorant to realize the problem is their own neuroses and not the naked people.

“A lot of people are being quite abusive to the local government officials..." So, apparently consideration for other people is not among their "values."

“She’s obviously an activist for her cause and seems to have come here just to do that..." From the article, it's apparent that she moved to Missoula first (to take a break from humanitarian work in Asia) and then decided to organize the WNBR. More ignorance on the part of the anti-funnists.

Portland has some cranks, but they are mostly relatively mild. This charmingly dumb couple "prayed for rain" on the day of WNBR (the weather was actually fantastic):

We had approx. 9,000 riders in Portland this year.

Re: “Revealing ride

Seriously... You have to go to the same place as the bike ride is taking place at the same time.. You can't choose to maybe go somewhere else at that time without it infringing on your rights? Come on McFarland, It is nudity. Naked, like how you were born! I personally am not going to be riding naked (ewwe), but I am also not going to complain that other people want to ride their bikes with no clothes on. I don't really care! I believe it is their right... And I highly doubt it is going to "open the doors to sex crimes".

Re: “Revealing ride

It's so sad that we are give ONE opportunity to show and appreciate one another in our god-given from and it it unaccepted in such a hateful way. Let the naked people have the streets for a few hours! We were born that way! I'll bet the men protesting against this ride are the same men who go to the beach and ogle girls in string bikinis - no one is trying to change the Missoula culture, but change the way that different kinds of freedom can be expressed and ACCEPTED - Missoula, LET'S RIDE!!!

Re: “Plugging in

It is rediculous to even think of a 220 plug in for what few rich folks we have anywhere in the state driving these electric cars. For one, the Hybrids switch to gas when ever you excellerate or hit a hill, pretty common in the mountains....mean while the rest of the folks that can't afford a car or one over a few thousand are suppose to help out in a huge tax so these folks can buzz around burning huge amounts of coal so they don't have to buy Gas or diesel???? 150,000 dollars can go towards a solar system to charge you rig buddy so fork it out on your own dollar and plant the system on you roof

Re: “Your future, a little early

Hello World, I am writing this little article to recommend the man that has changed my life and brought happiness and prosperity to my family. His is Prince Duro of ultimaterelationshipsolution@gmail. com. He cast a love spell that brought back my wife after separating for 2years. I thought it won’t be possible because she has already moved on with another man.

I can’t continue to keep quiet than to tell the world about the man that helped me get back my family, he is kind and prays to God, he doesn’t do blood sacrifice and kill any stuff. He opened up to me and told me everything that I need to know about his work that he inherited his powers from his late grandfather and the spiritual power has been in their lineage for ages.

All I can say now is thank you Prince Duro for what you have done for my family and job. Please have no doubt anymore about getting back the love of your life and email Prince Duro on ultimaterelationshipsolution@gmail. com
