Re: “Hungry for more

New ways of growing traditionally seasonal foods locally are being developed every day.
There is no reason to fear a major change in the diet with the very best basic foods are being grown in your community. We may not have peaches year round but we can certainly have the delicious basics like lettuce, herbs, tomatoes, beef etc.

Re: “Hungry for more

Eating local requires living seasonally lest health concerns and nutritional deficiencies manifest. Modern society is simply not conducive to such a lifestye. Bigger changes than diet will have to be made before society becomes truly sustainable.

Re: “"I'm not scared. I have a gun."

You all are entitled to your opinions. Are you all without sin, that you feel you can cast that first stone. Did you all live behind those closed doors of Heather and Dan to cast such judgement? Have you all never been in your 20's before and never made bad choices that affected others around you? Didn't think could have easily happened to anyone of us!! There is few that it does happen to, but when it does happen to those few, you grow up fast, you are remorseful, you do blame yourself and know you have to live with this everyday for the rest of your life. But does anyone ever realize that all played a part in such a tragic situation? Everyone makes decisions everyday, whether right or wrong. You all get just the basic outlines of the intimate details...don't judge until you have walked in their shoes!!

Re: “Daines ducks debates

jim snell...i am by NO MEANS DEFENDING Daines but you are a little wrong about his history...yes he was born in Cali but he was raised in Montana educated in MT(bozemen high, and Montana State) both of his parents are born and raised Montanans.

now onto the more important statement...this man is a liar and a weasel. he will tell anyone who will listen to him anything that said person wants to hear as long as it will get him elected to the Senate.

Darren...according to the US Census ...The population of Sidney,Mt was 5,191 at the 2010 census...seeing as how the 2010 was the last census and the census is what is used to figure offical population..the article is not wrong you are

Re: “Centurion Ministries responds to Barry Beach clemency denial

I'm not sure this will be made right until Marc Racicot is in the ground.

Re: “Centurion Ministries responds to Barry Beach clemency denial

I am dumbfounded by this. A handful of people who cannot tolerate the idea that they may be responsible for such a travesty would rather ruin a good man's life than admit they were wrong. And it is stunningly clear that they are wrong. Barry Beach is now at the very top of my prayer list. Surely God will make this right, surely....

Re: “Ivory Republican

Do any of you truly understand the repercussions of this law? I still wonder how and when the prohibition on the implementation of ex-post facto laws became the norm. Some antique violin bows are worth 10,000.00 plus and have a piece of ivory the size of a pencil eraser in them. As long as one tusk will provide a years worth of food for an African family and the Chinese see ivory as a status symbol this nonsense will do no good.

Re: “Collaring the wild

I do not believe in them I think it marks the wolf for death, they do not need our help in being managed, they do just fine on there own, its the people who are killing them that need collars !!

Here's a link to the If Not For This book trailer. Some added dimension to a powerful story.

Re: “Collaring the wild

I have read that poachers and hunters try to get collared wolves; they call it jewelry, and it is a prestigious kill among the psychopaths.
Doug Smith has himself to blame for supporting the de-listing of wolves.
Studies have shown that elk numbers actually increase in the presence of wolves (although they do disperse, meaning that killers must actually get out of their vehicles to find them); and as for the lazy welfare ranchers, we pay for their stupidity with our taxes, sending assassins to kill OUR wildlife on OUR federal lands, so they can make money on livestock with tax-supported grazing leases. And BTW, for those who love to complain about know-nothing out of staters, California has far more ranches than any other state.

Re: “Collaring the wild

Not surprising being that this is the birth place of the "shoot, shovel, shut up" people. They need higher fines and penalties on poaching. The loss of the data and things we could have learned about wolves is lost when a poacher takes an animal.

Re: “Daines ducks debates

jr2000- Interesting how you bring up Tester in 3/4 of your comment with an article about Daines. My point is to stay on subject, we could talk about Tester or the record of any politician when the article is about them. I'll give you points for attempting to steer the conversation away from Daines. Speaking of radio shows- you hear the one from a few years ago when Daines attempts to blame the sun for the planet warming up? Funny stuff, if you ask me.

Re: “Collaring the wild

Wolves should be protected, not collared or "managed." Ranchers should use non-lethal deterrence.

Re: “Daines ducks debates

It would be a real upset if Daines showed true leadership, but he appears unable to be that person. Don't know if Curtis would, but she should be given that chance as she reflects the real Montana.

Re: “Daines ducks debates

Probably a good thing if they don't debate, he'd make her look incompetent, just like she is. Funny you don't talk about Tester big money donations when he was running, and talk about afraid to debate or take questions, Tester has been in office for like 8 years and still refuses to come on Montana Radio shows where listeners can ask him questions. I was at one of his events and asked his press person why he refuses to go on any radio shows and take questions. She said "he doesn't like taking questions from kooks. I guess MR. Tester doesn't realize he got less than 50% of the vote in his last election, and had it not been for the 3rd party candidate getting so many votes, he would have lost.

And where is Tester, the so called farmer, when it comes to getting over to the Flathead Reservation and talking to the irrigators that are about to lose much of their water rights to the Tribe??? He has visited the Tribe several times, but not once has he came to talk to his fellow farmers. And Curtis would be Tester on steroids, just a lap dog for the incompetent Harry Reid, the biggest joke in Senate history.

Re: “Disservice to democracy

Boot Steppin Amanda refused to debate Daines in Eastern Montana.
Too scared to show up.
Would have been laughed off he stage.

Why would anyone want to debate in lefturn montana.
When Teste and Burns debated in Missoula, the crowd sounded like a bunch of UM sophomore frathouse losers than actual young adults.

They let Teste talk but made noise whenever Burns tried. Yeah, real fair and impartial.
