Re: “Case by case

Good job, mayor. Now we know that Carlyle has to inject up to $100 million into this system to get it up to par. That's in the court. You've done your job, stop this lawsuit.

Pretty please with sugar on top - stop this lawsuit before you cause more lifelong residents to move away because of your insane tax policies.

"I think they are big winners."

Shame you don't know. Did anyone ask them?

Re: “Theft

Patrolling that bridge at night isn't as profitable as patrolling South Avenue at 8 AM. I wouldn't expect this trend to change - no one really cares.

Re: “Cars for cows

What's more important? Your land or some kid's right to drive dad's car to school? City Councilors drove by there...did anyone figure out who owned it and ask what they thought? These are such simple steps, but we don't think of them anymore. Usually we just think how the City Council can meet less often. Shame. Remember, you can file to run for the City Council on May 4.

Re: “Snowless in Montana

For the life of me I can't understand why our 100,000+ strong tourism industry doesn't stand up to our, oh...maybe 15,000 strong hydrocarbon industry and demand they stop destroying their livelihoods.

Oh, that's right...we don't believe in unions in this country anymore. Think of the power of a 100,000+ tourist worker union, and how they could demand that we not destroy our environment. Think about that today.

Just wanted to give a big shout-out thank you to Courtney Anderson who was so kind in her interviews of the Bike Hounds and made sure to get all the details correct when writing about us and our new group here in Missoula! Great article & thanks again from The Missoula Bike Hounds!

Re: “Wyoming coyote trapper defends graphic photos

Yes the subject we are dealing with here is that no living being deserves to be tortured, mutilated or forced to die a slow agonizing death. So predator control is deemed necessary, handle it in a humane fashion. When a person enjoys watching a living creature tortured and then die very slowly that constitutes psychotic behavior which makes that person a threat to the public and household pets. Maybe a psychological screening should be conducted before a trapping license can be issued.

Love that Buffalo Bridge is not just making a political statement, their actions are heartfelt, tangible and effective.

We also have Behring Made Knives, Montana Rifle Company, and 406 Precision...not to mention plenty of food in the hills!

Re: “Local organizers revive Montana Festival of the Book

Thank God ! It's my one cultural fix of the year.
(I live in Idaho and the word "culture" apparently has been excised from all dictionaries in this benighted state.)

Typical liberal hypocrisy. Save everything on the planet but allow me to destroy the rare plants to make a statement.

Re: “Sign of the times

Brian, I have reviewed your offer to punch me in the face, and I accept. I know it can be hard to recognize me from my photo, so you can find me at my job as a bouncer at Stockman's. No need to introduce yourself—just walk right up and sock me one.

Re: “The Scavengers

Great reporting! Full of interesting facts and photos and, especially, balanced and fair coverage of the major stakeholders in this activity. Often difficult to do in an area where wildlife issues have smoldered for decades.
Hope someone nominates this article for an award.

Re: “Sign of the times

What everyone is's not about the flowers (although a disgrace), it's not about the rainforest, it's about terrorism. Yes I said it. Hear me out. Whoever carved that peace sign is now forcing their ideology on me, because everytime I look at the hill I no longer see a way to nature but rather someone's personal message. You're for peace, your way, great! But why force that on everyone? That's what terrorists do....they create a situation that no one can ignore because it gets their ideology tons of recognition (good or bad) it's all good. Why not storm the satellite tv stations in town and force them to show a peace sign on all their stations for a week? Everyone would be forced to see and deal with your ideology!! That's what you want, right? That's what terrorists want. Look, I'm not saying you're a terrorist, ok? But doing this ... this way, is the same approach a terrorist would use. You're forcing me to acknowledge your ideology by your available means. And like terrorist acts, now it's going to cost taxpayer dollars to clean up and fix the damage you caused. So, you're also taking my money dammit. Instead, why not try legitimate means? Or carve the outdated peace sign in your own yard or scratch it into the paint on your car? At least then I wouldn't have to see it every time I want to look at the hillside. Remember, that hillside is all of ours, the citizens, and you took it for your own personal use and destruction, for you own personal ideology. Think on that.

Re: “Sign of the times

The original story in the Missoulian was cheap hyperbole. Nothing new there. I'm sure that Missoula dog lovers tramp on more phlox everyday than the peace mongers managed to accomplish. Maybe Parks and Rec. could replant the peace sign in phlox. Not exactly sure what Brooks was trying to say but he got Aaron Flint's endorsement, never a good sign.

Re: “No mercy

I am just finishing up this book and I love that Gary remained voiceless throughout the book. It felt like a really powerful response and inversion of the power dynamic present in abusive families.
