Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

I genuinely hope that this fur farm doesn't make it. Bobcats belong in the wild and away from greed and classless people who are willing to wear a carcass to fake luxury. From 30 square miles to a 4'x6' pen is absolutely inhumane. Fur and the people who wear it are fugly. The end.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

This is disgusting! What kind of people would agree with having a fur farm anywhere? Faux fur looks the same, is just as warm, and didn't cause any animals to be beaten to death, bludgeoned, hanged, or anally or vaginally electrocuted. There is no excuse for fur.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

Animals have feelings, hearts, and minds just like we do. They have an interest in living their own lives just like we do. They were not put here for us to use and abuse as we please. I hope this cruel proposed fur farm never sees the light of day.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

Gotta love the 'my way or the highway' attitude with these enviro-nutcases. No wonder so many in the state hate them, no wonder the legislature is always going Republican, and no wonder they never get what they want - how many of you would want to spend a day alone in a room with them?

They'll never make a deal because they can never compromise. They'll get nothing, and you'll never hear the end of it.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

Stop the madness once and for all. Jamming animals in cage from birth until the day the die a horrifying and painful and terrifying death is morally unacceptable. Period.

Re: “Wrong side of the tracks

MRL needs to remember its duty of care and put up stronger fences, both to keep drunk idiots like this out, but also transients and protesters.

Imagine if a protester got their foot run over? How long before we heard the end of it? MRL, invest in your infrastructure or get ready for lawsuits. You've been lucky so far. Want to push it? Something tells me you do. You're a corporation, after all - you can get away with anything.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

The bottom line on this is that anyone who would allow this to happen to any animal is no longer classified as a person worthy of living on this planet. As such if they die a slow and horrible death, so be it. It would be justice well served. I hope to read their obits soon.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

All fur farms need to be banned. A law has to be created to ban these businesses. Either that or we must get together and put pressure on the state lawmakers to ban them for good NOW!!!! People this is inhumane you gotta pressure the people in position to do something about this. COME ON!!!!!!!

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

Anyone who wants to submit a comment on the proposed fur farm will find the Environmental Assessment and the comment box here…

Remember that cruelty isn't even on their radar--they're soliciting comments solely on the mechanics of siting the facility, security, and human & environmental impacts. And in all likelihood, it's a done deal that the license will be granted. In Montana, fur farming is simply considered a form of agriculture.

I do have one quibble (semantical) with the Indy's write-up, and that is this: "In March, radical activists targeted.... Extremists then attempted to free..." These people are not the extremists. Call them trespassers, law-breakers, saboteurs...but not extremists. The extremists are the ones operating the fur farms--no conscience, no compassion. Remorseless captors and killers.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

Fur farms should all be shut down. It's barbaric, and inhumane and it's time we evolved into kinder beings. We object to violence amongst people so why would we perpetrate cruelty and violence onto other innocent living creatures. People do not need to wear fur! There are many, many other fabrics one can wear to stay warm and fashionable. It's inexcusable and greed at it's worst.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

This story in the past week in Quebec, Canada:

'Horrific conditions' at Quebec fur farm: SPCA

" The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says foxes, mink and other animals are living in “hell” at a fur farm south of Montreal.

SPCA officials visited the Monteregie region farm in early May and again this month after receiving a complaint. What they found was “unacceptable” said Alanna Devine of the Montreal SPCA.

“Really, if you can imagine what hell is like, that is what these animals are living in. It’s hell,” she told CTV Montreal.

“We’re talking about horrific, horrific conditions. It’s absolutely unacceptable.”

Devine said the animals are “sitting on top of each other” in tight spaces and walking on floors that cut their feet. The SPCA also said excrement was piling up in cages, and that animals didn’t have access to clean water or medical care.

Re: “More on Forward Montana at the 10-year mark

So, "Montanan" please elaborate : What's wrong with being a progressive ?

If supporting gender and racial equality and a woman's right to chose, equal pay for equal work, workplace democracy, a clean, healthy environment, and a host of other "progressive" issues makes me a progressive, I'm damn proud to wear that label !

They need to be stopped. No means no. Above messages do not describe enough on how wrong this is on any levels. We all need to fight together and stop this.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

That's fine, Greg. Many of us do both. And because oppressions run side-by-side and intersect, a kinder and more compassionate world for one is a kinder and more compassionate world for all.

‘This is a life’s work. This may not even be accomplished in our lifetimes."
Sadly, it was not accomplished in hers. And now, the work continues on her behalf--for our friends the wild bison. As a BFC supporter, volunteer, fundraiser, and former board member, I thank you for this tribute. ~Kathleen Stachowski

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

I don't know, Other Nations - I decided a long time ago that I'd worry more about the problems facing people than those facing animals.

Re: “Bobcat fur farm for Roy?

Greg, there's a huge difference between drugs and fur. Drugs come from botanical plants and chemicals. Fur comes from sentient nonhuman animals who suffer. Granted, we have no control over foreign markets. We do have control (in theory, anyhow...) over the regulation (and by that I mean a federal ban) on fur farms in this country. The United Kingdom, Austria, and Croatia have already banned fur farms. Switzerland's laws are so strict that they amount to a ban. Why not us? Why not the U.S.?
