So great that the Kreilick endeavor is thriving! Good on ya!
Thanks for the great article, Jule Banville and Missoula's Independent!
would love to have a cup of tea the next time I'm in Missoula. Nice article.
Thanks for the question -- and the catch. We accidentally omitted 1 cup of red wine in the ingredients, Anita. The recipe's been updated.
How much wine should we use in the stew?
I had 40 lbs of tomatillos in the garage from the summer and all i can say is WOW!!! this is an amazing recipe to put them in. I have made it three times since i saw it in the Indy. I made it for hunting camp the first time..Amazing! Warms to the bone and gives you the later afternoon energy to get out there in the cold. The second time i made it for a party and everyone was dancing around in habanero sweatyness. the third time is just for freezing and warming up during this bone chilling cold evenings in January.
One change that i made to the recipe is to roast the tomatillios, peppers, onions and garlic. Gives the dish an amazing smokies. Never in three times making it have i used the same mix of peppers, change it up for the goodness of your soul.
you mean the plethora of pretentious hipster eateries here aren't enough to keep everyone satiated? "Convenience Food" restaurants give me the chills....they promise ambrosia on a plate, but i always end up feeling like i got "Ye Olde Sock" instead....and if you knew what was in those trucked-in menu items offered at most chain places, you would gladly crawl back to your own kitchen and try...try...try to make your own special sauce.....it is not that difficult, and much more gratifying. trust me.
I love tomatillos and also believe they are misunderstood and underutilized. After making this yesterday, I can say with absolutely no shame that I would eat this off the floor. Truly a culinary experience of a lifetime, and one that I'll be making over and over.
At least Chipotles attempts to use local and/or organic food when available. Chik-fil-A? Never. Why would I want to give my money to a company owner who's a hate-filled bigot? And Olive Garden recently hired a "turn-around" expert, who advised eliminating the endless bread sticks and salad. Actually, they'll still be available, but they won't be piled up on the table -- you'll have to ask for them, as so many are wasted. Makes sense, I guess. Plus it will save mucho money.
Your writing enchants me ... I really would like to have Wikipedic knowledge too.
I thought it was marijuana...:-)
Lost in the discussion of low-fat vs. high carb diets is that the high carb diets of the 1980s, such as the target diet, were also premised on regular aerobic activity. Carbs are significant to aerobic activity. What about all those pasta feeds for marathon runners? Further, those high carb diets are focused on complex carbs, not sanctioning the empty calories of high fructose corn syrup.
Heavy metals are poison that will make you sick and in time kill you! People in China are sick and dying from heavy metals by the hundreds of thousands! Its already in American food due to imports from China and this is a fact! Anyone contaminated with heavy metals in and away from China should be detoxing with the natural mineral called Zeolite that has been proven to safely remove both heavy metals and radiation from the human body. For more information on this detox do a search for the single word Zeolite.
Eating BSB food is like seeing Unwound or Rorschach play in a basement in 1993 to 20 people... you know it's the shit and you wonder when more people will get it.
Just call me Indian-jones
Call me a traditionalist; color me an old fart, but all this sound too bizarre for my tastes.
"...a locally harvested black wolf lies stuffed and prone not far from the wolverine pelt hanging on the wall."
No thanks. I'll take my business elsewhere.
I'm not sure it would be the "happiest hour" at Flathead Lake when someone is drunk and wrecks in their boat killing someone or themselves but hey - why not. What are we fighting? Bring it on...Montana definitely needs more alcohol abuse made easy. Please.
Stomach growls while reading. Thank you.
One word - YUCK.
