Re: “'Sand Castle' unpacks Operation Iraqi Futility

From an Iraq War combat veteran: No. There wasn't much there that felt very authentic, and certainly nothing "cathartic" or "comforting". This was a paint-by-number rendition devoid of depth. Worse, the film appears to have somehow confirmed your own flawed preconceived notions about what it was like or what it meant. This film was bland and instantly forgettable. While you're waiting for THE film about the Iraq War, for God's sake READ the multitude of authentic accounts. There are a lot of great books out there, and they can certainly help inform any future reviews you might tackle.

I wish they would interview Daniel Geary. He is a hoot.

Re: “The International Wildlife Film Festival remembers founder Chuck Jonkel

It's my great pleasure and honor to have known Chuck Jonkel; and I can honestly say that having had the opportunity to go with him on one of his trips to Churchill, Manitoba to watch polar bears was one of the high points of my life. "Amazing" is a much overused term, but I can't think of any other word that better describes Chuck.

RIP, Chuck; you'll be long remembered.

Re: “John Floridis celebrates 25 years of Musician's Spotlight

This was an excellent airing and I just loved that it ran over an hour and Brian Kopper was on! Get your pledges in, folks!

Re: “John Floridis celebrates 25 years of Musician's Spotlight

Congratulations to John and the MS team that has brought us such a wonderful taste of eclectic performers over the years. I can remember gardening on Tuesday afternoons listening to the show. Best wishes for continued healthy healing!

Re: “On record: A Crow Looked at Me, by Mount Eerie

Thank you, both, for this review and for laying bare the truth of grief.
I will listen.
And I'll keep reading Sarah's beautiful writing.
