My grandfather, Robert Hockett, lost SD 15 back in 1992, a district he'd won in the previous election to the legislature. Before that election the lines were redrawn to take out the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation. Republicans won as a result.
The tribes of this state won't find any better friend or party who cares about their interests more than the democrats.
I mainly think this is because many Indians are struggling economically, and at the state and national level the republicans do not care about poor people. In fact, they hate their guts and blame them for all of America's problems.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Candidate - HD 98
wow an officers right to privacy outweighs the publics right to know where did w hear that.....?
Is this the best Missoula County can do? Does the county NOT have bigger issues to deal with other than some poor sap in Lolo? What a complete waste of County rescores and time and it sure looks like harassment through the court system by Missoula County.
It sure raises a lot of unanswered questions. Questions like who has a vested interest in the property? Is it developable by an outside source and what would its value be if developed? Who is working in the background and is there a political interest in this case?
I have faith that Judge Ed McLean will do the right thing and maybe reprimand the people involved in this complete waste of tax payer’s money.
I have a feeling James will never get rid of that 'deputy' in front of his name.
I had a lot of the same problems when I tried to sign up last year. After two tries I just got the same result - my son and I weren't eligible.
Maybe I'll try again later, since I'm self-employed and have no employer health insurance, but it also seems likely I'll just pay the fine this year and go without.
Montanans are certainly united in their fear and mistrust of the federal government. How can we translate that harmony and accord between the two parties into meaningful and long-term solutions for the state?
This Bird is just another "Spotted Owl" excuse to regulate !! So please use caution, and require an "Economic Impact Statement" along with the "Environmental" and "Endangered Specie Act" !!!
We should be past reminding and telling the government that their duty IS to defend our rights not ignore, abuse or conditionalize them! Actions speak louder than the words, which they ignore. BTW both Matt Gibson and Matthew Frank, who did the report, will be interviewed Tuesday morning (8:30-10) on Talk Back, KGVO 1290 AM and 101.5 FM
The Independent published a great deal of information. You can access it here:
There is more and it is public information thanks to the Federal Lawsuit.
I hope Daines can do listening tours in other areas of the state as well. I don't really agree with him but if he's going to represent me I'd at least like him to listen to me.
The powers that be, you know the ones who take an oath to uphold the constitution, Federal and State, follow 2 sets of statutes. One that they are all over and above and one that they shove down our throats. Especially if we have the nerve to question them about their actions or non-actions. And we let them get away with it for the same reason the Indy is facing this crap. Sure we have Art II sec 8&9 MT Constitution but they make sure the statutes that help enforce both, are so vague that the government can stretch, ignore, edit, whatever, the meaning to how ever it pleases. They know the government has all the time and money, OURS, to drag it out in the courts. Usually by the time it finally ends, the issues are outdated and moot. Maybe the Indy should also get on the band wagon to get the Special Grand Jury, petitioned by the people, re-instated here in MT. Check out one such movement The National Liberty Alliance .
Is this for real? Holey smokes the last time I checked a US citizen had every right to public information and that includes police reports, arrest records and the outcome of an investigation after it’s gone to trial.
My question is when are you going to release all the information you received?
I hesitate to actually post on this, but I find it too telling and too sad to not make some sort of comment. Unfortunately, the Indy, in its search for the truth has encountered the same legal system hurdles and frustrations that a group of good decent cops (including Frank Bowen) did when they decided to take a stand against corruption.
Keep up the good fight for the truth. Honor, Integrity & Courage.
That's a shame. First, people need to consider what they say and do if it were to be on the front page of the New York Times tomorrow.
Second, why is political meddling occurring amongst mid-level managers of the civil service?
Finally, why do I need to sue my government for a piece of paper I paid them to create? I pay them every quarter and many pay them every two weeks - the government works for us, damn it, not the other way around.
Once again people who promote limiting access to our natural resources, only tells one side of the story. Maybe the anglers were up to some bad behavior of there own ?
We will never know. Since you choose to tell only one side.
Saying Hippie Hater Mx. Must stand for hate is just like saying , Green Peace stands for peace. Far from it they get rich on the promotion of a split in our country. With propoganda such as this saying anyone wanting shared acess to our country's natural resources must be a thug and up to no good. Get real. Yes there are bad eggs on both sides of the fence .
Let's don't lable people with the limited amount of FACTS you have presented here.
"eyebrow raising little item" ?! One positive public comment, no comments from the council members or concerns raised, but this author seems to feel compelled to make an issue out of one that doesn't exist! The author also forgot to mention that the City Council voted unanimously (11-0) in favor of the permit and that these local businesses are developing a property in downtown Missoula that has sat vacant for years.
You forgot Big Medicine Brewery - the first brewery and center for positive change.
Here a nice video of the wolf taking a baby moose away from its mother and killing it. Play it all the way through so you can hear the woman crying. So the myth that the wolf just takes the old and diseased is a lie.
Denali wolf kill 2 0f 2
Here is another video where a wolf attacked a person hunting as well as killed some domestic dogs.
Hunter Becomes The Hunted In Idaho Wolf Attack
Wolfs trying to use pack tactics to kill unarmed people.
Wolves become increasingly violent towards humans, pets
Also I bet you didn’t know that the wolf will run pregnant cow elks until they stress them and they abort there unborn baby to get away from the pack. So the berthing time for the elk is feasting time for the wolf. Then the wolf will stay with the herd and pick off the new born elk that survives the abortion process. Yes there are lots of things the supporter of the wolf are not telling you.
These videos go on and on. I think its time for the truth about the wolf to come out and all this misinformation and lies to stop.
One more time. Be warned and don’t take the wolf lightly or you could find yourself on the wrong end of the wolf if you venture to far off the beaten path while out in the woods. The good news is that man also adapts quite well and you will see the number rise as the elk and deer wither away to nothing and the wolf moves into populated areas.
You know I’m not saying what happened was ok and its not. This hunter should have clearly identified his target before shooting. But there’s more to this story than what’s in this article.
Also Layne Spence needs to stick with the same story and it needs to quit being changed by the press to inflame the public. Shame on you people and shame on this paper for highlighting parts of this article. Bad taste.
Wolf rifle 'hunting' season in Montana is 6 months long, from Sept 15 to March 15.
Wolf rifle hunters in MT don't need to wear blaze orange from Dec 1 to March 15. They can; however, use assault weapons, high powered rifles and electronic calls and shoot research wolves as they leave Yellowstone NP.
Yet some of these same wolf hunters are now saying they expect every many woman, child and pet enjoying a hike, or some fishing, or some cross country skiing, or bird watching on public lands for 6 months of the year to wear blaze orange? Those autumn and Christmas family pictures taken at your favorite national forest vista will sure look different in the future, eh?
Q: What rights do non-wolf hunters have to use public lands without having to deal with wolf rifle hunters mistaking them for a wolf and shooting them?
Apparently not much.
Q: Will wolf hunters pay for all these blaze orange vests that all the people and pets are supposed to wear so that the mighty wolf hunter (jacked up on hatred and fear) doesn't mistake them for a big bad wolf?
Also, apparently it's not illegal for wolf hunters to shoot people's pets on public lands, at least according to law enforcement.
