Re: “A union-led coalition wants to turn the Riverfront Triangle into a rallying point for affordability. Is anyone listening?

Every time I read an article/commentary mentioning Missoula high rents, low wages, I have to wonder. Why, with these two negatives, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) felt Missoula was a perfect "welcoming city" for resettled refugees? Which the Missoula City Council also embraced. Cheap labor? Slave labor? Especially for the new hotels planned for Missoula?

Re: “Resistance Kitchen: The ramen of climate change is real

Is this for real?!? Hand-wringing and anger over climate change while supporting the livestock industry--a huge source of greenhouse gas emissions (not to mention pollution and animal suffering)? Could it be that the 'resistance' in Resistance Kitchen is *fake* resistance...or *alternate* resistance? True resistance would be subverting the dominant paradigm--an overthrow of the animal-industrial complex that's propped up by the government via the citizens taxes. http://www.worldwatch.org/files/pdf/Livest…

Re: “At UM, an unusual peek into Stearns' cabinet

The real problem, of course, is the Commissioner of Higher Education. You'll get a good look at his disastrous tenure - and our three interim leaders at UM - in this Helena blog post:

http://www.logicosity.com/2017/02/color-th…

Please don't forget that the Commissioner has no MA and certainly no PhD. Let's not forget that Angela McLean signed-off on allowing such an unqualified individual to assume that position, either.

Re: “At UM, an unusual peek into Stearns' cabinet

Considering the decline of the university over the past 5 years, perhaps those attendees shouldn't be making a combined $2 million in salary anymore.

"... one of the most progressive city councils in memory ..."

They are progressive when it's time to take an easy, symbolic vote on something of little import. But when the rubber hits the road, and piles of public money are subsidizing private developers, they don't have the guts to stick with working people and taxpayers.

So, can we please stop calling them progressive?

Re: “Untouchable

I am briefly in the film but Fiege was too afraid to showcase the Anti-Registry Movement because he felt our challenge to a crazy man who wants to waterboard us is "too harsh." The film doesn't do enough to cover the fact that Ron Book and his puppet of a daughter has also been solely responsible for America's largest sex offender homeless camp. Fiege was too afraid to be overtly critical of Book. In fact, he catered to the Books way too much. Was it fear of a lawsuit? Fiege, you dropped the ball. Re: “An Independent guide to the 14th annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival

The Sea Shepherd is not a "PETA offshoot." Its history:

"Sea Shepherd Conservation Society was formally incorporated in the United States in 1981 in the state of Oregon. Previous to this, the idea of Sea Shepherd was formed when Captain Paul Watson founded the Earth Force Society in 1977 in Vancouver BC, Canada. The original mandate of both organizations was marine mammal protection and conservation with an immediate goal of shutting down illegal whaling and sealing operations, but Sea Shepherd later expanded its mission to include all marine wildlife."

In other words, their mission is "to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species." They are currently defending the highly-endangered vaquita porpoise (world's smallest/rarest cetacean, fewer than 60 individuals left) in Mexico's Sea of Cortez. They've partnered with the Mexican government to stop the illegal gill-netting that catches and kills vaquitas.

If the people in charge of this non profit were focused more on the community and less on their own egos, maybe they would have found broader community support by now.

Re: “Wrong End of the Gun

Gail and I were in the office that day together when we told Keith about Bonnie. I regret it every day. I have tried to tell an officer in Sanders County that Keith didn't kill himself. I feel Bonnie had a lot more to do with this. I also feel there has been a cover up by Sanders County. Shame on all that were involved.

Re: “Did Ryan Zinke go AWOL?

I called and emailed his office weeks ago. On call I was told prospective appointees didn't need to vote as they were getting ready for their "hearing". As it stands Zinke has left his MT constituents without a voice in Congress. Here's a good site to subscribe to for how the MT congressional delegates vote(or DON"T vote) on bills.

Re: “Did Ryan Zinke go AWOL?

Nothing has changed in 100 years:
"In these days when the larger papers, many of them owned and run in the interests of the big corporations; and when the editors are unknown and merely hacks who are given their subjects to write upon as a child is given its writing lesson; the people have turned to the magazines and country press for honest utterances."

Re: “Lawsuit opens a window on faith-based addiction treatment

This isn't about religion... it's about mistreatment of women at the most vulnerable time in there life. God says not to have any idols... well people are making Teen Challenge just that. So as a "religious" person I can confidentaly say this article is not attacking Christians. "Christians" just enjoy being offended. Stop using God as an excuse for your own personal reason to be angry over something and look good.

I waited years for God to allow me the chance to speak up. I'm not against Teen Challenge. I'm against Jan Henderson running the one in Missoula and hiring uneducated and unqualified staff. I'm against the horrible things she said to me and how she enjoys tearing people down. I'm against how she asked me to do research online of women's families and financials when doing intake. I'm against her setting up a client with her felon son with a client and them relapsing together (look her kids up on conweb Leah and Aaron Henderson). I'm against her letting her felon children around the clients. Im against Dianna Edinger starving herself and bragging about it because she's doing it "for the Lord". Im against Dianne abusing clients. I'm against her using her job as a source of power to make her feel better about the fact that she's a mean person who can't look at them self in the mirror. I'm against staff making up new parts of the Bible and manipulating existing parts of it to serve their own ego. I'm against women's faith and relationship with God being controlled and judged so harshly that they don't want it any more. I'm against taking women to the homeless shelter when they leave. I'm against kicking multiple women out of the program who are gay and showing then nothing but hatred and judgement, then tiring around and hiring staff who used to be gay and just assume that every woman has struggled with it.

I love Teen Challenge and their mission but I hate what's going on here in Missoula. If your a spiritual (not religions or nevessarily even Christian) person, I dare you to walk into the Teen Challenge facility in Missoula and tell me you don't feel the darkness there.

I did a year as a client there. I did 14 months as an Intern. I did 4 months as a staff member. Don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. This program might has saved a few lives but I witnessed it riun more.

Re: “A targeted solution to deadbeat dads: no hunting for you

It's up to the custodial parent to keep their info current with CSED so payments can be credited when they are made and keep in touch with them to make sure they haven't forgotten your case. Having been through this with my ex son-in-law they seem to favor the payer when hard ship is claimed. I had to call a couple of times a year to see what was happening with my case and when I found out he moved out of state I moved my case to that state. I may be dead before my grand daughter and daughter get what they are owed but I will never let him forget that he owes.
