Re: “Economy

We stayed at the Lolo Rv park 8/2014 and had what was a so called cheeseburger and fries for $12- REALLY??!! it was the worst meal ever, service was awful, the GM Dave Barbe was a lazy fat a** that was clueless to why we were so displeased with our meal, not to mention the fact that numerous what appeared to be customers were going behind the bar and helping themselves to alcoholic beverages, so called interviews we were told were being held "behind the building"- really? how unprofessional!!! When we complained to the GM Dave, he asked what the problem was and we told him-"YOU" to start with- shall I say that left him speechless. Needless to say we will never eat or stay in the cabins again and will spread the word. The camp is overrun with hippie types staying in the camp-likely for free- no wonder the loan payments cant be made. Our cabin we stayed in still had trash from prior guests in the trash bin!! The bathhouses were disgustingly filthy, trash overflowing, filthy terry towels molding in the shower areas. This is just a sample of what to expect if one does stay here-I advise against it. Sad for such a place of beauty that really could be a profitable oasis for all to enjoy year round.

Re: “Wild pigs

The person in the top post, Andy Hayes needs to do some research, wild boars and pigs are ruining large parts of Texas and Florida. They are not cute like Bambi, and to compare them to range free animals is upsurd, they are dangerous, carry rabies and attack humans. I hope he doesn't bring them (the wild pigs)
to God's country

Re: “Russell Street

We don't need more traffic calming. The Broadway diet has cars backed up causing more pollution. Do we want the same for Russell? I don't think so. Get more lanes on the bridge and move traffic. We don't need a lot of fluff to make this work. Keep it simple.

This is done on both sides of the isle. Democrats have also sponsored pre written legislation over the years, although Republicans get more press for ALEC.

Re: “Wild pigs

I've never been a hunter, (too tender-hearted to shoot Bambi) but one kind of hunting I would enjoy guilt-free is feral hog shooting. I love pork, but do worry about the horrible conditions industrial pig operations use. Wild pigs, though, have lived a happy, natural life, but they are harmful to the environment - so I'd be doing nature a favor and getting guilt-free, organic meat in the bargain!

BTW, isn't there a difference between feral hogs - domestic pigs which have escaped or been released - and true wild boars, which are naturally wild?

Re: “Missoula's 96.3 The Blaze cuts local programming

Who cares about eras or labels? Why conform? Lyrics can take you from broken and beaten to ready for a brand new day, or let you release your fears anger or tears. They can make you remeber a lost love as if they were there had just finally kissed you or danced with you for an hour with the right playlist:). I'm eclectic i am who i am. i haven't a thing in the world to prove to anyone. I know my worth. i only care what i know and how my loved ones feel. Music is the language of love & it speaks to the multitudes, it empowers the potential of things:)

Re: “Energy

Old Soil Guy, your power bill will NEVER go down because the deal that was made with the utility companies was that if they encourage efficiencies in energy use which reduces their revenues, the losses will be made up by increases in the amount charged per kwh. This is a license to steal obviously because no matter how much money they waste, the price for electricity will continue to rise.

Re: “CSKT members protest tribes' divvying of $150 million settlement

On various Websites the Tribal Council publish all the wonderful things they plan to do with "OUR MONEY." Accolades to display to the world who drop in to check on the Indian Settlement dispersal, in regard of the Historic $3.4 billion settment of U.S. Goverment mismanaged funds. I don't think the tribal council has ever been a democracy. It has always been a clique:A clique is the exact opposite of a democracy. The Tribal Council are mostly interested in benefitting themselves.
......definition of clique=small, highly exlclusive group, often within a larger group, and implies snobbery, selfishness, or sometimes intrigue, a group having a common interest.
.....The council members are mostly limited in education, and will die in their positions or their positions will be handed down to their family and friends. Why does this continue to be passed on to the next generation. They pass on their government corruption to THEIR next in line. ....Speaking of mismanaged funds... I heard that some tribal members received the $10,000 in a paper check in the mail and also received the $10,000 in direct deposit. I also read other comments by former tribal employees who have lost their jobs due to mismanaged funding , that should tell you something. Basicallly, that those currently managing funding are not qualified for the job. A problem exists that has not been corrected. .... The tribal council says in a "vague blanket statement" they plan to use "OUR MONEY' for elder care, education, economic development, language and cultural preservation. Does the tribal government offer a breakdown of what the elder care, education, economic or language preservation would include. The tribal council should also include a breakdown of what they are being paid out of "OUR MONEY" to carry out their plan.
Either way, how does this benefit the off reservation population which is nearly one third of tribal roles. They may be off reservation but their heritage should not be minimized. That settlement money was intended for their ancestors.
As stated by an attorney for the plantiffs, an estimated 17,000 people have died waiting for the settlement to be finalized, since the suit was filed in 1996. The original documents state that the settlement money was to be dispersed to individual class members, NOT the tribal coucil.
I am also curious as to where sitting. Where is the $71.5 million is sitting, what is the amount of interest on it and where does the interest go. It is "OUR MONEY". Shouldn't we be able to know that?.... The money has been held up in Government bureaucracy for decades and now it is held up by tribal bureaucracy, not much different. Maybe this travesty should be reported to the Government department that orignally dispersed the funds. Or Obama himself. I do believe there is a complaint link on the website.
......Another curiosity is member VOTING RIGHTS. I was born on the reservation also. I don't live on the reservation but my mom did. She was born and raised there and so were my grandparents on both sides. My grandfather was fifth in line after Jocko Fiinley. My mother originally left the reservation in the fifties because there was nothing there as far as education or jobs. My grandfather and grandmother were the original inheritors of that settlement. The settlement money was intended for them and according to the class action suit the money was to be passed on to their next in line. This practice needs to be addressed now before any other future settlements are dispersed. ....... If the laws have changed on the reservation to deny rights to tribal members not living on the reservation so be it. Then the settlement money should not be held up at all, non-reservation members should receive their money directly, "no questions asked" because it was intended for the original beneficiaries. And the new law of denying rights should apply to tribal members living on the reservation. That is SEGRAGATION. Different rules for different people. We are all tribal members but only the group living on the reservation get the priviledge to vote for of how their money is dispersed?..That is against any law. I can see restricting votes on issues directly pertaining to the reservation internal affairs, but not when it comes to alloted money by the U.S. Govenment for indiviual beneficiaries. If the tribal govenment chooses to SEGRAGATE the off reservation members then new laws need to ammended to protect those members not living there. Does that SEGRAGATION also include rules on borrowing money? How many other tribes use this practice. I also read comments about members being intimidated by tribal council members for speaking out. What's going there? The tribal government really needs to be examined.

You idiots are very wrong! I have known him from childhood and he is not a violent man. As well no drugs were present in him. This a simple case of a kid with a badge who is drunk with power and no restraint on his temper. You really should be better informed before you spew your ignorance in public.

Re: “CSKT members protest tribes' divvying of $150 million settlement

It would be very interesting to see a list of salaries paid to council members. I also agree that the Tribal Council is contempt of court and violating a court document. The Tribal , Council is very arrogant in defying President Obama statement, after a long and tenacious to fight to get it approved and makes our President look weak in the face of the nation. The Tribal Council has been notorious in the past for ripping off the tribe members and now is the time to speak out and demand 100% payout. A NEW TRIBAL COUNCIL might be the answer to all our problems and best lead the Tribe in moving forward, instead of holding the money back in order to accrue interest money (to further Feather their salaried nests) while our elders are dieing in anticipation.
