At first I was really excited about Romaines, such a great concept. After eating there a handful of times I am no longer a fan. The owner is always there and he's not friendly, almost comes across as he doesn't want you there, its bizarre. Not to mention when I went to nurse my child, the owner seemed deeply offended. I can pay $10.00 for a salad but I can't nurse my child, in the back corner while using a nursing cover without getting "the look?" I'll never eat there again. Romaines won't last a year. Go to the Good Food Store if you want a salad.
way better head shops in town. go to mellow mood if you want a crazy highend piece and go to atmosphere if you want local stuff or good deals.
Good: nice staff usually, lots of pipes, smells good
bad: really, really expensive-- you can get almost all the same stuff @ the local owned shops for cheaper (Atmosphere, Raja's,e etc)
cool store but i would go to atmosphere or mellow mood if I had a choice so 1 star
Dismal. Except for one waitress we encountered poor and often rude service, currently only 3 beers on tap and the bar stank of stale beer. Food was good last year, but this year, not so much. We shall not be staying again.
Read several reviews and had high hopes. Started with the onion rings as an appetizer, indeed very generous portion for the price, however super greasy and the onions had no flavor at all. One of us ordered the special, BBQ Roast Beef, Bacon, aioli, etc flatbread sandwich. It was super sweet and just not interesting, could only taste very sweet BBQ sauce. I had the Jerk Chicken on fry bread, served with red cabbage slaw, yoghurt dressing and a home mode relish, etc. The whole thing was soggy which ruined the fry bread, besides some jerk spices the chicken was not seasoned and again the taste was sweet and not interesting. Having it served in a plastic basket with a piece of paper didn't help either; it just did not look appetizing. The gal who served us, I think she was the owner, was very friendly and I think they try very hard and have some interesting ideas but someone need to really work on the flavors and presentation. Please taste, taste, and taste before you serve anything. I would rather see 5 or 6 really good dishes on the menu then 3 pages of mediocre food.
One of the worst burgers I have had in years.
Sucked, went there, it was packed, they got the order wrong, and that is NOT a $9 sandwich, save your money and go to macdonalds for similar quality.
I went there with friend half years ago but I don't think I can go back unless I will here something good about it.
I heard pizza is pretty good but not really.
This place is a joke. It makes pretense at being an establishment of fine dining but their quality of food is lower than my appetite after smelling their seafood fettuccine. The seafood smelled rancid, the prime rib weight was calculated on the bone and resulted in paying twice the price for half the meat, and the fact that they pack you in like sardines with a pathetic little salad bar in the corner you can barely get in and out of... save your money.
On 07/02/11 wanted "Street Vendor Noodles" but they were "out" the "chef" recommended "Tokyo Noodle Bowl" as they are similar. Chicken was all fat, service was "Meh...". Noodles lacked any flavor, I had to drown it in soy sauce to taste anything. My water glass was hot (just came out of dishwasher maybe?), and one of my guests glasses had a crack from top to bottom and back to top in a giant U shape. If the Missoula voters voted this the best....we have absolutely no culture or taste. Will not not buy again. I would rather fly in Angelos from New York than eat here again.
If you want a working internet connection, go anywhere BUT the Break. After they 'upgraded' the system in 2010 it still failed to work and to make matters worse the 'upgrade' resulted in none of the staff knowing where the routers are to restart them. Only if you enjoy spending $5 for your drink, sitting down, opening your laptop and discovering that you have to get up and go elsewhere to get any work done online will you like BROKE Espresso.
Jo, Mike "opened the doors to the community" because it made fiscal sense. Period. If he has helped a few queers along the way, well good for him. I bet he made money in the process.
Besides being run by an owner who discriminates against even DISABLED PEOPLE IN A VETERAN'S BAR*, AmVets is downright disgusting. Hope you enjoy black mold if you decide to venture down.
There are FAR better places in Missoula that are open and truly welcoming to the Queer community: and not just 'cause they want our money. In fact, most of us have long-since moved on. Won't find much gay at that "gay" bar anymore.
AmVets is a dank, dark zoo where straight people come to "gawk at the gays."
Amvets no longer"hosts" drag shows I used quotes because he didn't host those events for free he charged a rental fee plus received all the alcohol profits and it hasn't for yrs the manager has done little over the yrs in upkeep I can remember even 10+ yrs ago it being just a dumpy as it is now. I also haven't thought of it as a safe place for the lgbt community for quite some time that's why many have chosen to boycott the bar. Lets also not forget the man is facing criminal chargers over his mismanagement. Also handing out condoms in any bar in MT isn't uncommon.
I cant believe this place is still in business & still able to serve alcohol. I just talked to someone whose 17 year old sister was provided alcohol by this establishment on New Years eve so they still have not learned their lesson nor are they adequately training their employees to define age limits before serving these kids. I dont ever want another mother to go through what I have because of this so called fun center.
Amvets has been the gay bar in town for years, however a very homophobic owner who won't even allow Missoula's only gay news publication to be delivered, ruins the atmosphere and makes the gay community feel not welcome.Though, he won't deny them for it's just more money to pad his wallet. Most of the bartenders are lgbti and very nice, but owner Mike is not.
Dark, dank, and downstairs. People and performances not worth the place! Time for the community to consider a new spot.
This movie theater is close to the worst I've experienced. The first 8 minutes of the movie was only a loud buzz. I went out to tell the employees and they finally got the sound working but would not start the movie over. For the next hour, another buzz would not go away and when it did, the sound was way to loud for our children. After asking the manager for a refund, he told us he couldn't do anything because we didn't leave the movie sooner. Pathetic excuse for an atrocious theater. They've lost my patronage--I'll gladly drive the 40 miles to Missoula next time. Sorry Pharaohplex!
Stopped by James Bar with a small group and was blown away by the rude female bartender. I lived in NYC for years and have traveled all over the world and never came across such rude service. It is so sad and disappointing to experince it in a great town like Missoula. Lighten up and get over yourself James Bar Bartender. We'll take our business elsewhere.
