Watching the Indy trip over themselves to apologize for Missoula's rape culture is truly the nail in the coffin for that city's depravity. The football coach, the athletic director, the chief of police, the university president, and even the county attorney have proven to accept, and in some cases, encourage rape. And now...even the Indy is trying to cover up Missoula's shitty attitude toward women. It's disgusting. I will continue to warn every woman I know to stay away from that kind of environment.

Another well written article by Ochenski speaking on behalf of many Montanans.
The brutal treatment of bison by Montana's DOL is a national disgrace and hopefully public outcry will increase. But what else could we expect from an agency that refused to take a stand on game farms infested with bovine tuberculosis and (mad-cow) chronic wasting disease ? A quick buck for game farmers was more important. And welfare grazing for cows next to the park is more important than the legacy of the Yellowstone bison.
Subsidized cattle grazing on public land should simply be ended. Many of the welfare ranching operations feeding on and often degrading public land are on a large scale reaping substantial profits for their wealthy owners. The folks wearing cowboy hats are not always the good guys.
One outrageous example is the infamous Koch brothers who hide behind their self-made myth as libertarians who want to downsize government. They graze cattle on public land as well as logging on public land at subsidized rates. It seems their idea of smaller government is to make sure government does not serve the interests of the majority of Americans, but only the elite. And Montana has millionaires running cattle on public land.
One act of resistance anyone can participate in is to simply not eat beef. Research has linked beef consumption to heart disease, cancer and obesity. And the presence of mad-cow prion disease in American beef remains an open question. Do yourself a favor and just say no to pink slime and the cruel treatment of the great American bison.

Follow the money back to the start of Pinehaven and even before. The key is there. The gift to Bob Larsson of the Pinehaven land from Hazel McKeever in her will was contested by her family. Larsson portrayed himself as an "Indian Evangelist" for fund raising while being anti-Indian in many of his attitudes. Where is the financial accountability? Where is the oversight? How much is this empire worth and how much in tax revenue is Lake County losing? Follow the money.

Why would the state and fed do anything different with this idigenous species than any of the others? They have no concern for wildlife in this state! Their only concern is money as is a proven fact on the FWP site or the USDA Wildlife Services (haha)! The millions of wild animals and birds killed by these agencies every year is beyond imagination and the hundreds of thousands of dollars they make from selling licenses to kill is the sole reason for the corruption and decimation of our natural environment. Schweitzer will never respond when his pockets are being padded along with all the other politicians by the ranchers...BIG TIME!!!

Anyone who has ever been to Yellowstone and seen the hazing would have to agree it's the most blatant misuse of public funds. The way these animals are treated is beyond inhumane. Who ever the Dept. of Livestock found to implement this project should be held accountable for all the devastation. There have been many opportunities to end this tirade and come to a reasonable solution. For at least the last dozen years the govt. agencies involved have run unfettered around Yellowstone. There have been outcries from every corner of this country. The tribes have offered to help by taking animals, and hundreds if not thousands of people have come together to stop this madness, yet every year the atrocities continue. Yellowstone and the animals in it are a national treasure. The cattle and houses that continue to encroach on the park and the migratory routes of these animals is an abomination. Thanks to the BFC for standing up for these animals.

The following guest column from anti-wolf organization Lobo Watch appeared in Mineral County's Clark Fork Chronicle in December 2010. It included the statement, "Right now, Xylitol is being used to reduce wolf populations."

"In the December 2006 issue of Veterinary Medicine magazine, the article "New Findings on the Effect of Xylitol Ingestion in Dogs" shed light on the deadly effect this popular artificial sweetener has on canines. Then in March 2007, an article in USA Today. titled "Popular Sweetener is Toxic for Dogs" shared the same information. Somewhere along the way, sportsmen put it all together. Wolves are canines, nothing more than the wild cousins of the dogs so many of us keep as companions, use for hunting, or often keep as working dogs with cattle or sheep. If Xylitol was deadly for dogs, it would be deadly for wolves.
The news spread quickly, and the word is that many hunters are now making sure they have a plastic baggie with a healthy dose of the sweetener whenever they head out for big game. And if they are successful, they are leaving many very sweet gut piles behind. Likewise, if they happen upon a wolf-killed elk or deer carcass, they are also dousing those down with Xylitol as well....
Those who spend a great deal of time in the outdoors, and enjoy seeing an abundance of wildlife, plus prefer to harvest their own wild meat for consumption, are now at war with the environmentalists who want to destroy that opportunity and ability to do so. As long as anti-hunting environmentalists keep fighting wolf and other predator management, allowing big game and even small game resources to dwindle to nothing, the sportsmen of this country are going to devise ways of taking care of the predator problem.
Right now, Xylitol is being used to reduce wolf populations. If you hunt with dogs, or just spend time in the outdoors with a dog or dogs, beware of the danger - and do not allow your dogs to feed on any remains left in the woods."
